Kenepuru Head Camping Ground

Information

Kenepuru Head Campsite

Picturesque setting and a great base for a range of activities, including boating, fishing, walking and mountain biking on the nearby Queen Charlotte Track.

The Kenepuru Head Camping Ground is in an extremely picturesque setting and is an excellent base for a range of recreation activities such as boating, biking on the nearby Queen Charlotte Track or walking. Wicked for sea-kayaking.

A brand new toilet block with shower (cold) and cooking shelter make it an even better place to stay!

Check Council website for current road conditions.

This is a nice, fairly flat camp with lots of room.

Cold running water. Camp hosts were great.

Lovely setting directly on the water with splendid view on the sunset over the sounds.

Lots of space even in peak season. Very clean, new toilet/cold shower block. Beautiful drive to get there, free bird concert in the morning...

Very clean with new flushing toilets and cold showers.

Excellent DOC campground, large and well maintained.

New flushing toilets, cold shower & good kitchen shelter. Some sites partitioned by bush plantings, Telecom(Spark)reception available by lone tree overhanging the estuary. Dawn chorus amazing, watch for the red deer on the mudflats. A long winding road to the site, not worth it just for a night but if staying for a few days well worth it- NB don't drive Kenepuru Road if you are expecting to see Queen Charlotte Sound from this side.
