    Great camping spot.

We had non-powered site, bathrooms were clean, there was nice common room and kitchen, hot showers also available. Stayed for two nights in the end.

Such a cosy vibe, lovely staff and good and clean facilities. Also just a 10min walk from the doubtful sound cruise departure and doable distance from milford sound.

Our favourite campsite in New Zealand!

It's super cosy, it's clean, it's pretty, it's quiet, it's close to the lake, it's got everything you need, we *loved* everything about it. Also, beautiful night sky!!

Sehr schöner Platz, 5 Minuten vom Strand entfernt. Besitzer sehr hilfsbereit. Für die Sauberkeit wird alles getan und sind wir doch mal ehrlich: wir können einen Großteil dazu beitragen. Leider ist das bei manchen noch nicht angekommen!

We had a good stay here at the campground.

Reasonably pricing (45/50$ per night) for a powered site. 20gb wifi included. Laundry and dryer available. The facilities have the charme of the good old days, but the owners have changed only recently and the new ones are full of energy and try to improve things day by day.

    The wrong side of tacky.

Rusting, rotting junk everywhere. You will hear nothing but the sound of campervan doors heaving shut for a full hour after a truly spectacular sunset view.

Bafflingly, the cleaning crew comes through and does the kitchen and shower facilities at 7:30 AM. Because who wants to cook or shower at a campground first thing after sunrise?

Beautiful campsite, definitly one of the most beautiful ones I stayed at during my trip through this country.

22$ unpowered for 1 adult. Free showers, clean facilities. Wifi around 2GB, free and fairly decent. Heaps of spaces, lots of shadow with lots of trees and an amazing look on the sound. 2min drive from the Doubtful Sound cruises, which I highly recommend!

All in all felt really safe, would stay again immediately!

Ended up here after Possum’s didn’t have any vacancies left (hung a paper on the porch that sad “Don’t come in and ask!”).

Loads of space for your tent, terrain is beautiful with many oldtimers, trees and plenty of picknick tables. Had a beautiful spot with views of the mountains out of our tent. Didn’t hear the road too much. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Showers are free and work, kitchen is a bit dirty and outdated.

This was the first night in ages I wasn’t attacked by sandflies! :) The beach with a great view on the mountains is within a 5 min walk, nice cafe closeby.

In conclusion, it isn’t a top10 campground, but it is a place with character with plenty of privacy and a beautiful environment.

Payed $42 for one night 2 adults non-powered

We ended up here when we couldn't get into Possum Lodge down the road.

When we arrived the elderly owner started complaining to us about tourists and campervans which seemed a bit odd but I'd read a few other reviews that had mentioned this on CamperMate so I was prepared! When I mentioned we were going on to Milford she started on about how it had been ruined (which, having since been don't agree with). None of this was aggressive, just not the most welcoming.

Camp itself is nice enough and has some quirky but quite dated. Showers are free. Manapouri lake is just across the road.

    Cost (2p, non-powered): $38

Location: Lots of space, close to Manapouri Lake.

Facilities: Kitchen with a few items and cooking facilities, showers and flush toilets. Good but slightly dated. The games room doesn't look like it's been used in years! Wifi is free (but didn't work)

    Value: 7/10

Sandflies: A few at the lake, didn't see any in the camp

    X-Factor: Nahh

Other: There's cheap petrol available in Manapouri so top-up before you drive up to Milford.

Showers are free, they just have a timer on them like in many other camping sites.

Great experience, would go back right away. The owner was lovely and the camping is in a great location. We woke up yo views of the lake and the mountains. The place could do with an upgrade but it has a lot of personality and everything you need: spacious kitchen with pots and pans, bathrooms in good condition, laundry room (paying), and even a games room. There is a pub next to it as well.

Note - showers are not free!

We paid for an unpowered site and innocently used the shower. The elderly owner then came to our van and tried to extort money from us ($5 for the shower and $5 for ‘lying’ apparently) after bullying us and telling us what a problem campers are in NZ. Beautiful location, shame about the unreasonable and confrontational owner.

Nice place with much room to camp in the open or almost in the woods - whatever you prefer.

Staff friendly and welcoming, showers hot and clean.

Paid 20pp for two on an unpowered site - quite pricey imho, but no place around Te Anau seems be be much cheaper.
