Nevertheless the facilities are very outdated and in really bad shape. Toilets have no seats and the only oven in the very small kitchen was out of order

Great place to stay!
Quiet, peaceful. Bar and hot food available. Great free showers. Lots of room. Great place for kids. Can bring pets if approved by management. Great all round. In our opinion one of the best holiday park in NZ. Check availability through Christmas and new year’s. Plenty of trees for shelter. Free 100mb and then have to pay for extra. Data reception not the best, kinda depends on where you stand as to how good it is. Washing machine =$4 dryer =$2. $2 coins only. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back here again.

Stayed on the 23th of December.
It was horrible. Facilities are way too small for so many campers. Decided not to cook as kitchen was full with people. If you want to wash your clothes expect to wait for an hour in front of the laundry shed as three out of five washers are out of order (and they were the nicer ones). The toilets and showers got dirty very fast. At least the showers were hot. But the facilities are also in quite a far walking distance from most sites. Sites with good view of the lake are rare and some boats are very noisy. But you can chose a spot with much space around if you don't mind not to have good views.
All in all, the campsite is okay and I stayed here twice as it is good situated. Out of season I payed 18$ and had a little bit better experience, still many people. Now I payed 25$ for a non-powered site! Very much overpriced in my view.

The staff at this place were really bad.
The showers had a fault and were scaldingly hot, burning my skin and scalp, but when politely letting the staff know about the problem so no one else got burned or hurt, one staff member (a small teenage boy with braces) in was really unprofessional and was smirking and laughing. On leaving the building, all three staff were laughing loudly, despite me being visibly upset and holding the top of my head in pain. It ruined my experience, and having immature staff running somewhere where professionalism is needed in serious situations like that is unsafe and reckless.

We met a rude employee in charge of the relationship with customers, who ask us a proof of our booking like we were intruders, yells customers like childrens !
Warning : reduction with Rankers Camping is ONLY if you book more of 2 nights.
40$ for 2 for a tente site, this could be correct, but the wifi is terrible and limited (or you have to pay), the toilets in tent site are prefabricated (the real toilets are really far from tente site), no picnic tables.
The kitchen is well equiped but too small, and there is a great view on the lake, but definitively this is an industrial camping. We do not recommand at all.

One of the best lakeside views I’ve seen at a campsite, with big open tent sites, cost of which has gone up to $40 for unpowered.
Reasonably sized kitchen with most utensils and showers were clean and tidy and 30 mins free WiFi. Be ready for some flies lakeside other than a great campsite just out of Wanaka.

Arrived late hours, but there is a note saying find a site and pay the next day. Paid $38 for 2 pax for a powered site. Kitchen and showers toilet were very decent and great. Unlimited hot showers. Nice view of Lake Hawea. Very huge camp area and there are rabbits around. $4 for washer, $2 for dryer.

Fabulous setting in a spacious parkland.
Generous pitches (but costs extra for lakeside - probably not worth it). Good shower block but draughty and not very fly proof. Very friendly reception staff. Good laundry. Take aways available in the village shop.

I can't say a bad thing about this campsite.
We tented with our two dogs and it was bliss! The bathrooms were clean, the showers hot and strong, the views amazing and the kitchen big and equipped! We got there early so got to pick a beautiful spot, sheltered from the wind thanks to the trees but still offering a beautiful view. The only downside for me was, the rules were that all dogs had to be on lead (obviously) but three times dogs came running through our site when their owners walked them off-lead.

We spent two nights here just after Christmas 2016.
The positives: stunning lake scenery, great hikes/bike trails in the immediate vicinity, and a peaceful and quaint town that has great (and cheap!) ice cream. The park itself was packed full with people, so we didn't get a premium site for our camper van, which was understandable. The facilities were fine, no issues. My major complaint - and the reason I'm taking time to write a review - was the management, specifically the older woman I encountered on a number of occasions. She was so off-putting and dismissive of my park-related questions that I would absolutely not stay there again, if only because of her attitude. A complete lack of understanding for customer service. As an example, I went in to ask about possible fishing boat tours for me and my family. "Oh, you have to have a license, so you wouldn't be able to go. Sorry." This her response, with a strong condescending tone. Never mind that I DID have a license, but I suppose since I was a foreigner, there's no way I could understand. Made it that much worse that I encountered this unpleasant woman on Christmas Day. What a downer. Unless you've got no other choice, don't stay here, if only to avoid her.

Loved the divine views of Lake Hawea - very peaceful.
We had some unseasonally windy weather and it was still beautiful! Facilities are what you would expect. They do need to invest in a fly killer machine in the kitchen and bathrooms to take care of the influx of sandflies - we had to swat hundreds before having a shower! Also, the local shop up the hill, although quaint is ridiculously expensive. Stock up before you get here!
