We stayed in our own self contained caravan with our two little dogs.
We found it great, will be back. Found it very relaxing. Make sure you take milk as they only sell small packets,.

First impression a bit spooky, as there are a lot of long-term campers there.
Some of the campers look a bit neglected. Not much going on. But that could be because we were there on a weekday in early December.
Showers, toilets and the kitchen were very, very clean. Hot showers can be used unlimitedly. $48 for 2 adults, power site.

I thought this was a joke we pulled in drove around and drove straight off.
One of the worst campsites I have seen in NZ. Looked like a filthy industrial site with long term homeless people living in caravans. Took one look at the facilities before driving off. Tourists need to be warned as this was not how it was marketed on the website with beautiful views of the lake etc.

Hell hole.
I wouldn’t recommend your dog staying here. Just don’t.
Camped next to a long term family. No peace. Dogs intruding, kids bicycling in our campsite, 4 wheelers parked on our site. Noisy until 11pm. Facility run down.

The WORST camp EVER !
Toilets looks old and it's very smelly, worst of all it's looks like a haunted toilet. Good thing the hot water is good. Kitchen has a heater but no kitchen utensils. Highly recommend NOT TO EVEN try to go! Horrid experience

(very) old facilities and mainly Kiwi holiday makers and regulars.
Showers good, kitchen has chairs, tables, fridge/freezer, hobs and water cookers but no pots, pans, utensils.
Wifi isn't great. NZD 20 pp is a bit steep for this camp, I think.

Good campsite and nice little cabins although the beds are pretty hard.
What is pretty annoying is that the kitchen is absolutely not equipped. The only thing they have are toasters, hubs and water boiler. Pretty useless if you're traveling without kitchen equipment. Other than that, nice people and nice facilities.

We stayed again, Dec 2010, what a change, new signage, clean facilities, happy staff, more gravel scattered here and there, Im re-rating this from a 2 to a 7, keep up the good work..
Jan 2009 - What a tip, go anywhere else.
There's acres of safe playing for the kids, the Lake at its doorstep with safe swimming bays to the side and the rowing course nextdoor. A 30min walk into Twizel passes the morning quite nicely. Showers are hot but fickle, everything works in the kitchen and washing machine have a reasonable charge.
But the buildings (except for the new Motels) haven't seen much improvment since they were built in the early 1980s, they are generally grubby, spiderwebed and roughly cleaned out, windows with months of accumulated flyspots, street lighting only half working, potholes get bigger every year, broken supports for watertaps, sun faded signposts etc. The camp shop doesnt cater for anything more than the peak holiday demands, ie no papers, milk from mid/late January.
Fat lazy owners who couldnt give a toss.
Only improvement I could detect for 2008 was free handwash dispenser in the tired shower blocks.

At first sight this places makes an bad impression.
Entance area is mainly occupied by long term or permanent caravans.
The tent sites are in the back. Along the perimeter there is still some flat and grassy spots. Showers are great. Kitchen is not equipped (apart from hobs, oven, cookers and toasters) but there is a fridge to store your stuff
For 20 dollar per person per night the price is quite high.

Dreadful.
Far away from the lake, terrible WiFi. What's the sense of 10 GB on one device with hardly no connection?

Very large park but full of old permanent caravans with no distinct site markers.
Very old amenities. Big sign at entrance stated 'No lead, no dog' but there were dogs wandering about and leaving poo as they went. Just as well we had a fully self contained motor home.

It was not that bad for me.
They had a huge area and lots of space for our tent. Kitchen was clean. Bathroom was ok. $36 for 2 was a bit steep for the place though. The lake was a short walk and Twizel town centre was 10 mins ride.

Very disappointing camp.
We had to unexpectedly stay a night in Twizel due to a flat tyre on our camper van. We were tossing up whether to stay here or in Twizel camp ground. I should have listened to the previous reviews but thought it would be nice to be beside the lake because when I looked up their website it is called the Lake View Motels and holiday park. But there is no view of the lake from the camp. Instead the camp is full of old caravans, many set up permanently with make shift fences. The toilets and showers are old and cold, dirty and full of insects. The water was hot, that was the only positive. The feel of the camp is very feral and we did not enjoy our stay at all and left the next morning as soon as we could. The worst thing was they still charged $46 for 2 adults and 1 child. Would never stay here again.

We have stayed in many camping grounds and holiday parks, this has a five star price tag with 2 star facilities.
For the cost you would expect it to be similar to a Top 10 Camping Ground "HOW EVER IT IS NOT"

what a dump!
The holiday park is run down, messy and resembles a building site (as at Sept '09)! I wouldn't let my dog stay there let alone human beings! Very very disappointed and the staff were unhelpful and extremely rude - they need to get their act together or close - one or the other!!
