Opened early Jan 2005, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge is built from wood and stone to blend into the landscape, and will comfortably sleep 72 with a variety of room sizes. Many of our rooms have range slider access to the deck, which has a large barbeque area and stunning lake views.

Facing the lake, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge features a huge common room with lovely natural Macrocarpa wooden dining tables and an open fireplace, which make the crisp winters of Mackenzie country much more pleasant! It also has TV, Wi-fi, Internet Kiosks & Laundry. The village is a 10 minute stroll, where there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants plus a well stocked supermarket.

There is so much to do at the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge – take a walk up to Mt John where the views over the lake & the Mackenzie country are spectacular. Mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, horse riding, scenic flights and even star gazing at night. All activities can be booked at the Lodge.
