Clean and well-maintained facilities
Nice views from sites
Good location, close to town
Friendly and helpful staff
Great for families with children

The campground is in a great location.

First site off the plane so can't guarantee I was in a balanced state of mind.
Showers and loos were fine and there was a pool. However the site was cramped with small pitches and no views. The facilities were probably better suited if you had a family with young children. Not cheap.

Beautiful site, nice view even from the "normal" powered sites (not "harbour view").
Big kitchen, clean facilities, hot water just enough in the showers. All you need

Lovely spot, close to town (5 minute walk down a steep path).
Facilities are nice but I’d say you are paying for location here than anything else. Most campers that stop here are ones that couldn’t get a camping space in the free car park in town!

Facilities were very clean. Due waterrestriction showers are limitated.
A bit pricy.

As someone else mentioned as soon as you go through the barrier this place tried to get as much money out of you as possible.
Every thing was more expensive than anywhere else we stayed, you even had to pay to use the BBQ. The showers only lasted 6mins which you wouldn't mind however that's not why you pay the extra to stay at a top 10. Our site was not very level however the playground was very good it was all very clean. It also had powered sites which quite a few of the other campsites don't on Akaroa.

Great place for first stop after picking up camper van in Christchurch.
Very nice powered site overlooking the harbour. Great facilities, new, clean. Nice walking trail down to Akaroa. Good restaurants and cafes, recommend Ma Maison. Also the Black Cat dolphin watching cruise.

You know something's off, when a Holiday Park has a boom at the entrance.
We found out later: It's a general attitude that "people are mean" with the result that you should expect skeptical business people and not welcoming, easygoing hosts at such a location:
- they crammed every square metre with a parking or tent space, so it feels always full. There is enough space for every big vehilce, though.
- it's very steep, which might be problematic for some tents, but sites are generally quite flat.
- Everything costs extra, creating the feeling that it's overpriced.
- A wonderful exception was the little herb garden, (overlooked by most) in front of the kitchen
- Toilet and shower facilities were fantastically clean and new, BUT the arrangement of showers opposite the toilets is quite unfortunate. The other toilet/shower block is too far away from all sites.
I understand that Holiday Parks are businesses. But going a little bit out of your way and giving an extra touch does so much for the overall experience (a blowdryer in the bathroom, extra hooks, give DVDs or laundry baskets out against name instead of money). This Holiday Park is a very serious one. But that also means they are serious about cleanliness and state of their facilities. That's good.

Good place to be.
Very clean, good wifi and I had a good spot with a nice view. The staff was really nice and helpful.
Unfortunately the pool wasn't open and it was a bit overpriced. I've paid 45$ for non power...

You do need to provide your own dishes in the kitchen but everything else is there including washable hand towels in the bathroom.

Great campsite!
Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a really nice view of the bay! It is located on a hill and the walk into the town is a few minutes downhill (which means a fairly steep walk back up to the campsite!), just a heads up!

The campground is in a great location.
You can walk to town if you want to. Kitchen and bathroom are clean. Playground is not as good as in other top 10 but kids still enjoyed themselves. Pool is ok. Has TV and play room as well for rainy days. Would stay again.

No potable water on site due to pollution of town supply.
We were told this happens regularly so maybe management could consider their own filtration like other rural sites we have visited. Otherwise okay. Steep walk back from town.

Campground was fine, good showers, kitchen clean and tidy.
Not in town, so bit of a hill walk to get down there or a 3 minute drive.
Signposting to get there could be a bit better, you see a sign for camping but no campsite name, if you miss the turn just keep going there’s another turn at the bottom of the hill, also not named.

I visited in January.
The price was $60 for one person for one night in an unpowered site (I did not have a vehicle, I had walked in).
I suppose it was peak holiday season, and the park was very busy, perhaps that was a higher price than usual. All of the facilities were fine, but the park was very busy. I think $60 was too much for what was on offer.

We were there a bit before and for 3 weeks of the level 4 lockdown.
We found the kitchen and shower facilities fine when they were open but what really set this park apart is the way they handled the shutdown. The rate was reduced to account for the closed facilities and the hosts did many things to make life more pleasant. These included finding a legal way to provide access to a washer, supplying little things like toilet chemicals, and even loaning us a sharpener for our kitchen knives. It's difficult to imagine a better park to be stuck in.

Not the facilites and playground you are used to for a top 10 but ok.
Do not pay extra for a harbour view site as the view is not much better but the sites are tiny compared to the standard ones.
