The camping ground is really nice.

You can find your own place and it is a very natural space. A pity that the kitchen is small, but it is worth staying there.

Nice lady for the check in.

I did get a discount for helping with her computer. Good place to stay. Cheapest in the neighbourhood. Clean toilets and hot showers. Kitchen a bit outdated but functional. Shame that the other fellow campers were making a mess. Free use of bbq.

Off the beaten track away from the tourist spot.

Facilities are small but clean and tidy. Lots of space in a large field with sunshine or shade.

Stayed in a powered campervan site.

Good value ($26! for 2 people), clean facilities (not modern but well maintained), nice common/kitchen area and you can choose your own spot!!

Only con would be that you need to drive 2 minutes to the centre of Hanmer...but we didn't mind. Need to pay extra for wifi.

    Would stay here again!

The check in man was friendly and helpful.

The site has an open outlook with a nice view. Hard to tell how cramped it would be when busy as it was quiet - and I suspect it would be quiet a lot of the time as out of town. It felt spacious. Facilities are old but serviceable. Cost us $32 plus $5 for a 4 year old. I was told there is a playground and he is allowed showers hence the extra charge. I was completely shocked by the playground. I gather there isn't health and safety in NZ as the playground should have been condemned - and I am not normally worried about these things. The trampoline had a hole in the middle big enough for my child to fall through and as it was dug in to the ground he would have ended up under the trampoline in undergrowth and whatever is down there. The slide is horrendous and I'm not sure whether it was roped off or just random material tying round the top. The tyres sunk into the ground were OK though. There are signs everywhere - don't do this and don't do that. It's worse than being back at school. To be fair most of the signs are stating what should be common courtesy - don't unplug the fridge, turn off the lights, etc but they are covering every wall!! Feels like you're being told off before you've moved! I assume they've had problems in the past. It is a quiet pleasant site, out of town which is pretty but not child friendly.

Thank you for the review. I am so sorry about the tramp mat having a hole in it, we weren't told, and as it was a newly fitted mat in early Dec by a person who supplies and fits trampoline mats, we had no idea of the slit down the middle. As to the slide. We are looking at getting a replacement as soon as it quietens down and we can get to Christchurch. As for the signs, yes they are annoying, but people will challenge us if they are not there, an example of that, is, you saw the size of the tramp mat. 2 adult men were jumping on it together. Obviously designed for children. The signs in the kitchen is another example of arrogance, quite often food is spoilt in the fridge and Freezer, when campers unplug every power point to charge their phones and laptops, then leave plugs out.

    Very friendly and helpful staff.

Showers and toilets are clean and serviceable although a bit dated, but lots of hot water, good shower pressure and heater in the bathroom. Camper sites were fine and reasonably close to facilities. Internet available but on a pay basis and we didn't use it. Dump station was closed because access impossible over all the snow on the grass. It was fine for an overnight and a quiet peaceful setting just out of town.

Very convenient location for Hamner Springs - just 5 mins drive into town where there's plenty of parking and the hot springs are well worth a visit.

Very pleasant and welcoming reception. Good flat large pitches with or without power. Facilities a bit dated but clean and adequate.

Disappointing arrived and found lots of wasps in our room.

Got rid of them all and shut all the windows onlybtobreturn at night to find more in the room. We ended up leaving and driving back to Chch as our children were frightened of being stung. Asked for a refund only to be told we should have told them earlier so they could fix the problem and that the previous family and people in next unit did not have a problem and when management looked at the room there were no wasps.

I imagine the wasps had left via the route they had arrived.

    Facilities were old but clean.

Pleasant, quiet situation 2km out of Hanmer Springs.

Site flat and well drained and easy parking for a caravan. Site has limited shade. Facilities are OK but mens showers and toilets tired and cramped. Paid $32 per night for caravan and two people on a powered site.

Woman seemed nice at checkin, but was extremely rude when I had my phone plugged in an unused phone socket, saying it was cutting off the wifi.

I don't know how as I hadn't touched anything and my phone was turned off. I did not appreciate being told off like I was a naughty 10 year old, I am a 30 year old woman!

Also not enough facilities for number of people.

    Not a pleasant experience.

A great little spot just a short drive from central Hanmer Springs.

They've got two trampolines, a playground, lots of grassy spots to park your van as well as two toilet/shower blocks. The kitchen is rather small but comes with crockery and cutlery. These guys have a sweet deal: if you book for more than two nights, you get free bike rentals! This includes the helmet and the lock. Really awesome as it's just a little bike ride into town and there's plenty of bike trails around the campground. You can also borrow badminton rackets and birdies to play as they've got a net set up.

The cabin we stayed in got quite cold at night but they have an electric heater in the rooms. Cutlery and crockery also included in here. Linen hire so bring your own if you can.

We found that this was the cheapest spot out of all the Hanmer Springs accommodation options. Feels a bit older but overall an enjoyable stay. We would stay here again.
