So peaceful and beautiful.
I needed a cheap and safe place to stay in my van for a night. I ended up having an entire field with no other campers able to see me or my van. I could see the ocean from my van which is stunning and super close. Shower was hot and clean. Falling asleep to the sounds of crashing waves and waking up to a snow covered mountain on the other side, absolute bliss!

We stayed here one night and I could have stayed a lot longer.
The owner was lovely but most of all the view from our powered site was incredible, we saw dolphins having our morning coffee. The showers have to be the best on a campsite we have experienced, lots of games and things to do around camp. Laundry was great and everything very clean. Would definitely recommend and return!

Can see why this campground gets great ratings.
All facilities available. Great showers which are included in stay price. Clean toilets and kitchen areas.
We got a site next to the beach and it was wonderful. Saw some dolphins and believe they were hectors. The proprietor told us that’s common there. Beautiful sunrise. Wonderful wave beach for a swim though the drag is pretty strong so just be aware.
Go to the world famous Kaikoura Seafood BBQ trailer on Fyffe Quay just before Point Kean and have the platter (good for two) or the crayfish.
Good Allpress coffee at Beebox in Kaikoura.

The campsite is located by the beach it's perfect, except when it's windy, the tents fly away as the whole field is sandy.
For the rest of the campsite it's rustic and aging with the road right next door

Good location, only 7km south of Kaikoura.
Tent camping is by the beach, however it is a first in first served situation where no sites are marked out and as it fills up in the afternoon, people are now on top of each other. Really not desirable. Must be absolute chaos with young children running around. Make sure to get in early and pitch your tent. See till no guarantee that someone we will not camp extremely close to you!

I’m not sure how so many have had such good experiences here, we did not.
We booked a cabin for the night because of the bad weather and when we arrived it smelled bad and was damp. The kitchen along with almost everything there hasn’t been updated in ages, lots of long term residents, and they lock the bathrooms for some odd reason. The owner was cheerful and right on the beach, but the rest of the experience wasn’t too enjoyable. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was cheaper, but for the price they charge for a cabin without linens, it’s definitely not worth it.

This place is absolutely amazing.
The spot by the beach is gorgeous, you can hear the waves by night. Moreover the owners really put effort on bringing that place up to a next level of camping, and add-on plenty of little things in the camping and the facilities which make that place really special. The kitchen, living room and bathroom are very fonctionnel (like having room for putting your belongings while you are having a shower for exemple) and places are decorated with taste. It's perfectly clean. The owners are really good host. Highly recommend.

$50 per night non-powered for 2 adults, a 3 year old and an infant.
So nice that we spent 2 nights.
The non-powered sites are right at the top of the beach so if you're brave and carefull you can get your campervan nicely postioned to take full enjoyment of it. The sunrise is absolutely stunning from this location.
Decent facilities, a bit old however they give it a good clean daily. Nice playground for kids and a decent little camp shop on site.

We stayed in a non-powered site with our dog (he had to be on a lead at all times but he was happy to be tied up under a tree when we were at our site).
We had the option of staying on a beachfront site but had heard from a number of people that it can get very windy so we chose a site near the trees. Friendly staff and clean amenities. The only thing that detracted from this campground was the amount of trains and trucks (engine braking) going past (100km road) and aeroplanes flying over (whale watch tour operators is next door). So at times you felt you could barely hear the beach due to the traffic. The road noise continued during the night. We went for a hike up the the summit of Mt Fyffe which was great and only took 6hrs return (2hrs quicker than suggested). Lots of nearby things to do and Kaikoura is only 5min drive away.

Nice campsite with great facilities that are regularly cleaned.
Showers don't require coins and had good pressure. We stayed there on our way down and when we returned again. Beautiful beach with great waves for surfing. Saw some dolphins there too. The unpowered seaview site is very exposed to wind, and the sand is soft, so make sure that you have big pegs if you are planning on tenting.

Paid extra for ‘beach front’ and instead we’re 3rd row back from the beach with campervans blocking any possible view of the sea.
Specifically requested as close to the beach as possible, checked in by just after 2 and were still plenty of actual beach front spots available but were told they’d already been allocated. Dissapointing, don’t bother paying more for powered sea front site.

We are very shocked at your comments and know that these are not true. We take pride in the cleaning of the cabins and sheets ect are cleaned every day without exception. We have NEVER had bed bugs so maybe you should sit back and take a look at where your comments are coming from. We have been very busy with our cute cabins and have had not one bad review. Do try and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
