Rapahoe Beach Holiday Park

Family Camping, Old School Style

Rapahoe Beach Holiday Park is a favourite place for groups and families (including your furry friends) to spend your holidays and experience camping the old school way, literally in the grounds of an old 1930s school! Located just 11km north of Greymouth, this quiet, secluded location immediately on the beachfront offers a range of facilities and activities for your comfort and relaxation – all while being central to a range of popular West Coast tourist attractions. Favourite pastimes for visitors include swimming in the “school pool” or on the beach, gemstone hunting, fishing, observing the local seal colony at Point Elizabeth, checking out the amazing geological papa rock and limestone features on the rugged northern point, or whitebait fishing on the river nearby. Maybe you would just like to simply read a book from our library or teach the kids a few of the old school board games? There’s something for everyone.

Motorhome and caravan sites (powered or non-powered), as well as tent sites available.

Great sites on the beach (sites 22-28 have ocean views, 22-24/25 are right on the beach).

Great amenities, very clean toilets and showers with hot water. Huge common room and kitchen area that was lovely and warm at night with games, wifi and books. Lovely old school, no fuss atmosphere. Spent a lot of time walking the beach picking up rocks and watching the incredible sunset. Caretaker was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay!

Our new favourite place to stay.

We love the ocean side camping and friendliness of this little campground. Not cramped like the top tens or expensive like the Tasman camps. Plenty to do in the area and if it’s raining, there’s the big lounge, kitchen area to hang out. We love the camp cat who comes for pats and company, and the beach walks. Dunollie Pub nearby has great meals and beers all a great price. Heaps of adventures nearby and exploring to do. Short ride back to graymouth for supplies. Worth a look at Blackball too for a days visit. Def recommend ⭐️

Laid-back site on beautiful stretch of unspoilt beach which is great for swimming.

Very reasonably priced @$41 for powered site for large RV. Amazing library/games room/kitchen in the od school-house. Badminton court outside & lush heated swimming pool. Very tranquil even when full - only about 20+ pitches. No town, so no shops, pubs, bars or anything like that, just off the highway, but if youre looking for the beach, the sea and a great site I would highly recommend.

A lovely beach front place to stay, the owners were friendly and accommodation was good although facilities are old and maintenance, a good deep clean required it met our needs but would have been a better

    experience if facilities were cleaner.

I wouldn't recommend this in busy season as only 2 showers for whole camp ground and kitchen bit tight for many people.

The new owners have done an absolutely wonderful job in bringing this camp ground up to standard.

Everything is spotless. The location right beside the Rapahoe Beach is fabulous for either a quick dip or just walking along the beach and as for the sunsets, they are simply stunning. There is also a pool, if you aren't keen on swimming in the sea. This campground is in a great location and ideal as a bolt hole when wanting to visit the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks.

    Incredible location.

We decided to pay for a powered site at one of the Beach View sites and it was well worth it. The view is gorgeous and you camp right at the back of the beach. There are multiple mens, womens, and unisex toilets, plus a kitchen area, lounge/dining area, and coin-operated washing machines. The hosts seem to be pretty casual however their way of interaction can come across as rude (as others have said), however I don’t think they actually mean to be rude. Would definitely stay again.
