Great campground.
Friendly staff greeted me and checked in later to see if we were ok.
Good kitchen area and shower. Shower took a bit to warm up but so good once it did.

Average/poor facilities and our site was given to someone else while out for the day.
This also happened to the people next to us. Would not recommend and will not be back.

Nice spot, nice people .
It’s right on the beach. And a cool area nearby. But it’s just a campground nothing particularly great about it other than the mini foosball table in the kitchen

We loved this spot!
Beautiful rocky beach accessable from your camp spot. The grounds were lovely and tidy, grass was freshly cut. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but they looked clean. Only down side is you had to pay for showers. The campground had a really nice vibe about it!

Despite the negativity of this place as per previous reviews.
Nothing but a warm welcome and lovely place to stay. Very quiet at this time of year. Would recommend this place as a nice quiet place to stay at this time of year

Was very quiet, all facilities were clean and well maintained. We got in before the rush, gets busy around 16/12 so get in before then with the nice weather and peace and quiet.

Great quiet grassy sites literally next to the beach.
Staff are great, helpful and accommodating with heaps of local knowledge. Park facilities are good and well kept with hot shower and well set up kitchen/seating area. Very nice little park and at reasonable rates.

Do not stay here unless you have no other option.
The only thing this camping ground has going for it is its location next to a beach.
Tried all afternoon to call ahead to secure a powered site for 1 night as it was a busy time of year, no one picked up the phone. When we arrived the office was manned by a very rude woman (no idea what she had been doing all day). Her tone was condescending and unprofessional when asked about a vacant site and local transport in the area. After meeting such friendly people everywhere else in NZ she was a massive grouchy rude let down.
Facilities very old and tired, messy, not well maintained. Sites are very close together with little privacy.
Location next to beach is good. Showers are free although the sign on them makes it look like you need to pay.
If you're in the area check out The Mussel Inn just down the road. Their live music nights are brilliant. Despite what the grumpy lady in the office will tell you there are 2 numbers you can call if you have had a couple of drinks and need a ride back to your accommodation. Sign is next to the bar at the Mussel Inn, must be prebooked.

Stayed for 2 nights. Very quiet when we went but imagine it would fill up in high season. Right on the beach - fantastic for the dogs. Would definitely return.

Of all the campsites in Golden Bay, this was my favourite.
Normally I cringe when I see “Holiday Park”, as I prefer quieter places, but this one was a quiet place.
Everything I needed was there, it all worked fine, and the people were helpful and friendly. But the best thing was the location. No traffic, no streetlights, no noise except the birds and the waves, and views out across the whole Bay, from Cape Farewell to Separation Point.
It’s easy to get in and out of, and right on the beach.
There are good shelter belts for bad weather if you need that.
It’s a big site, and in summer I’m sure it’s full of holidaying families, but when I was there in September it was quiet. I had a beachside spot, with a sea view on a powered site (sunrise is from the sea).
I had a fire on the beach under the moonlight, and saw seals and dolphins. Excellent.

Nice campground with private access to golden sand beach.
The beach was very tidal (as is all of Golden Bay). Some sites had good shade, while others were a bit open. Facilities generally older, but very clean and well maintained, except the kids playground that could do with some work. Great café a short walk up the road, along with a couple of galleries

We booked and paid $90 for 2 nights on a powered site for our motorhome for 26th and 27th December but couldn't stay more than 1 night.
Yes the beach is beautiful and the site is right beside it, but this is the only redeeming feature. The gents toilet block absolutely stunk and was unhealthy and unhygienic. The ladies block was litter better, windows open no doors, very basic and uncomfortable to use. The ladies showers were disgusting. I saw 1 cubicle being flooded by the water coming from the 2 showers being used, this was partly due to the position of the drain and mostly due to it being full of hair. Showers cost 50 cents for 5 minutes and started when the coin was inserted, the meter was outside the cubicles so the first minute was used getting undressed. Nowhere to do hand washing or ironing. Signs everywhere telling you what you couldn't do. Avoid this site unless you are only interested in beaches.

Greta location, but facilities are a fatal let down, they are horrifying, none of my showers would get warm even after I paid for them.
The toilet/shower blocks are plain scary, they are dark and dingy, not a very nice camping place

Friendly host but expensive stay considering no dump station facilities, no wifi (it was down) and 4-minute showers that you had to pay extra for.
Only seemed to be one place to dump waste water as well which is bizarre for a park of this size.

My partner and I had a fantastic time at the Golden Bay Holiday Park.
We stayed for a few nights but could easily have stayed for much longer. The tent sites are generous and right by the beach. Facilities clean and tidy, and the camp relatively quiet post school holidays. The managers, Karyn and Dean, were fantastic and made sure everyone camping was OK when the rain set in. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back!
