zoomThe Quirkiest Theme Park In NZ!
Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn.
Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".
As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months. Come for a few hours or spend the entire day. Whatever your age you will love The Waterworks.
Come along and see for yourself what a little bit of “kiwi ingenuity” can do!
Open every day (except Christmas Day) from 10.00am. Visit www.thewaterworks.co.nz for further details, including pricing.

Heaps of fun with interactive things to play with.
Unfortunately some were out of order :(
Would be a great place to take kids.
Adult flying fox is a bit dangerous as I rope burnt my leg on the way down and it immediately came up as a huge bruise on inner thigh *ouch* but other than that its a great place to explore and play.

Had a wonderful visit with a big group ranging in age from 7 months to 60+.
Everyone had a ball. Congratulations on the improvements since we last visited a couple of years ago. The gardens, paths, and new signage really give the place a well cared for look. Verdict from the kids "much better than Disneyland" and there are no queues and you get wet!

The waterworks is a fantastic place to spend the day!
Built by engineering genius's, it's full of mind blowing attractions that are both interesting and interactive for people of all ages. It's set in beautiful native bush with a swimming hole and nice walking paths, and provides a place both for relaxation and excitement. There is also a cafe with delicious food and drinks, as well as a lovely covered patio. I highly reccomend visiting!

A fantastic day out for all ages (we were from ages 1 to 77!).
We have been a few times now and this time was no exception. The kids loved getting the adults wet. The kids loved getting wet. The non-water items were fascinating and were a great opportunity to dry off before the next water attack. Highly recommended for something completely different.

wow - not a theme park, but a time warp.
you think you can pop in for an hour or so and 3 hours later you finally escape. many of the displays are in need of maintenance - but this does not detract from the experience

I certainly wouldnt have rated this the best theme park in NZ for 2010 or 2011, in fact I wouldnt even say it was a theme park, its a water feature park!
The toilets were horrible, in fact we walked in them and straight out again, holding our mouths and noses! It was very expensive for what it was. Paying to swim in a public river, this should never be the case!!!!! Credit to the person who designed the brochure - well done in over selling the park.

Life at waterworks is so great, everything is a new invention.
Every attraction is for all people between 3 and 100 yrs. You can even bring your own food for picnic and use the barbeque in the garden, or you can buy it in the Café. They got the best Coffie ever made. GO TRY IT AND HAVE FUN

Waterworks was one of my favorite places in New Zealand!
You can lose yourself for hours getting your friends wet and marveling at the ingenuity. The staff is super friendly, especially Petunia the giant pig (unless you rub her ears.) I love Coromandel!

We dithered whether to leave the main road to brave the gravel road to The Waterworks but so pleased we did.
For the first time (in a long time) our 14 year old daughter was suddenly a child again!! Fantastic!
Excellent playground and lots of laughs with the hamster wheel.
Highly recommended.

A great afternoon for the whole family.
Our kids are 2 and 4 and while they were too young for some things, they both had a great day. Don't forget your togs (swim suits) as they've got an old school swimming hole that looked like a lot of fun. Good coffee too.

A fantastic day.
I didnt really understand what it was from just the leaflets I had seen so wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, but I loved it. We laughed so much and got soaking wet. Its just like a big playground for adults (and children). Definatly worth the money and definatly worth going whatever your age.

We came to the Waterworks on a joint class trip with almost 50 9-10 year olds and 15 parents and adults.
The kids had an awesome day - playing, exploring, having fun and taking full advantage of all the wonderful experiences there are to be had at The Waterworks. Jeff was a wonderful host and provided utensils and cranked up the barbie so we could have a lunchtime sausage sizzle. The children loved the ice creams and were all obsessed with the hamster wheel on the playground! We weren't brave enough to go in the watering hole but maybe next time.
I look forward to bringing my overseas visitors to The Waterworks over the summer holidays so that they too can take advantage of a wonderful day out.
Thank you very much !
