Himatangi Beach Holiday Park is situated on the west coast of the lower North Island, New Zealand.
We are approximately seven kilometres from State Highway One, half an hour from Palmerston North and two hours north of Wellington. We are the perfect spot to stop at after doing the Tongariro Crossing, or before sailing Cook Strait on the inter-island ferry, or to just get away from it all. Our park is three hundred metres from the wild rugged beach, where you can check out the rustic driftwood huts or even make your own. Sit on the beach and enjoy the most amazing sunsets, play in the waves, throw a line out to catch some fish, or explore the massive sand dunes.
The local Cosmopolitan Club has restaurant nights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, as well as other events and activities throughout the year. The general store across the road offers coffee, takeaways and everything else one could ask for.
The kids will love the adventure playground, skate park, and BMX track. For some family fun, why not have a game of tennis at the local court?
Himatangi Beach is great all year round. Wind, rain, sunshine; what can beat watching the waves roll in while enjoying fish and chips on the beach.

Pleasant stay at this Top 10 where we stayed on a powered site.
The park was fairly busy but we had no one next to us and there were no issues with noise despite it being a Saturday. The park is evidently well maintained- the toilets, showers and kitchen area were clean and tidy. There is a dumping station, water supply and rubbish bins on site.
Although it says you need to be checked out by 10am, we found out departure time was actually 11am but for an additional 10$, you can stay until 5pm. We paid the extra amount because we wanted to the check out the beach nearby but it wasn’t the prettiest beach we’ve been to in NZ so should’ve probably just left at 11.

Absolutely spotless facilities, super friendly host. They helped us with everything we needed. Some very noisy campers got a proper telling off. Thank you very much!

Excellent place.
I’m here now, mid March 24 quietly relaxing as heading for the ferry.
My lock on my door broke so the lady in charge put her little boy through the driver’s window. I couldn’t have done that.

Well appointed camp ground with very clean and tidy facilities.
Close to a simply amazing beach. Ideal camping ground for your summer relax and recuperation spot. Very family friendly. We were in a camper van and used a powered site so a simple one night visit.
Staff were efficient but not overly welcoming. Kind of seemed like they wanted to get back to dinner. However the facilities and the little touches (flowers and music in ablution blocks) were a great touch.

Very impressed with this camp.
Were given the choice of where to put our caravan and shown the facilities on arrival. Great kids playground with trampolines. Pool table and table tennis set up. Usual kitchen and laundry. Bathrooms were pristine condition. There were lots of permanent sites there and the people we met in them were friendly and helpful. There is a small reserve behind, perfect for a dog to have a run around. It’s a short walk to the beach. The creek at the back of the grounds had whitebaiters set up. In all, highly recommended.

The manager was really nice, the kitchen and bathroom was really clean and the bathroom was nice with music but...the kitchen was completely empty, not even a towel to dry the dishes, the leaving room
was really big to host lots of people and even party but seem, like the kitchen, basic. The all park seems old with no decoration....but the grass is well maintained.
Furthermore, we had mosquitoes and sandflies.
Only power site available and it was 50$ for 2 persons, i was finding that a little bit pricy for what the camp was.

Everything is nicely taken care of in the sanitary facilities. The shower cubicles are modern and wonderfully spacious. A hair dryer is also available. We stayed at the Himitangi Beach Hilday Park because of the reviews.
It is by far, without exaggeration the cleanest motor camp we have stayed at. Less than half the sites were permanent, with large areas for tents and caravans. All sites are large enough for a car, caravan, awning and still more room to not feel like you’re up against your neighbour. have power and clean drinkable water. Great facilities. On our arrival the friendly owner took us on a tour of the facilities and showed us where everything was. The best thing was we could camp on whatever site we preferred.

Loved this place.
I stayed in the winter so it wasn't busy, but I can see how this would be a must stop in the summer. Facilities are modern and clean, and the owners were lovely. When I arrived I was taken around and shown where everything was. I didn't travel with any children, but there was a very cool looking playground which I could see being a hit with the kids if you are travelling with them.
You are given 1gb of free wifi which was very much appreciated.
Can't recommend this place enough.
