We stayed in our caravan over Xmas 2020.
It was very pricey, but with three young kids we needed the on site entertainment! Pool was great, as was the playground and they just got the air pillow up in time for Xmas day. Facilities are a we bit tired. The place was very busy and it coped with the crowd. Our site was great , we needed to swap sites to a less shaded area for our solar panels and the staff were very obliging. So over all we had a great time- but for the cost I would expect the available Facilities to be top notch. A good family holiday site all the same.

The cost of $59 for a non-powered site is the most expensive we have encountered.
Of most concern was the feeling of being unsafe at night time when there was a fight between permanent residents at the camp. Phone numbers listed for the facility just went to answerphone - I did leave messages. I was tempted to ring the police - the disturbance beginning at 2am lasted 45 minutes. It appears that there is a need to employ security and give the number to campers arriving. Obviously I will not be returning. I did ask the staff at reception when I was leaving if they were aware of the issue. They hadn't picked up the messages and said they would investigate.

I’m writing a review as there hasn’t been any for nearly a year and I think this could lead others to dismiss staying here as we nearly did and that would be a shame.
The description mentions new owners and I think they must have come in since the last reviews were written. We very much enjoyed our short stay. The facilities were very clean and plentiful. There was even a family bathroom which we sadly didn’t find until bathing our baby in the laundry sink. The pitches were spacious and grassy and even the motorhome ones had a nice aspect down by the river. It was all very peaceful and the main noisemakers were the ducks! The only negative is that although within the block there were plentiful showers, sinks, cooking facilities etc, there was only one block which was quite a distance from some of the furthest sites. I will also slightly caveat my review by saying we were there in a Sunday night not in school holidays and it wasn’t super busy so it might be a different experience under those circumstances.

Despite a lovely campground environment nice friendly staff can’t recommend the facility, gripes are as follows.
Stayed in both a 2bd & 3bd units during recent Jan 2021 stay, experienced:Heaps of flies in each unit, arrived to a half dozen or so & because of ingrained filth they just kept coming back each day. Leave a window or door open for long units filled with flies. Cockroach infestation. Running along the floors, across oven tops when cooking, in shower when washing, in bed when sleeping. Sticky filthy floors. They made bare feet soles black walking on the carpet inside, clearly heaps of ingrained dirt in carpets. 3bd unit had a spa but colour of the water was to hideous to get into. Suspect riddled with bacteria. No smell of chlorine like you’d expect.
Sticky floors and bench tops in 3bd unit. Some surfaces clearly hadn’t been washed down in months eg top of fridge, shelves, window sills.Couldn’t run heat pump it blew out deep fat filthy smelling air. Suspect filter never cleaned.Camp ground had outdoor swimming pool, but way way to cold for swimming in, only adrenaline filled kids game. Told heating got turned off over summer months. Shame that was one of the attractions with booking. Curtains in unit stunk and filthy
Unit BBQ filthy, carcinogenic burnt remains, long since ever cleaned properly and utensils chained on so couldn’t take inside to wash them properly. Window & door joinery looked about seventy years old and literary falling apart, rattled & wind blow through keeping one awake at night. Shower unit mouldy and filthy.
Pots and pans in cupboard dirty with food from previous guests. Cleaners seen before occupying units but clearly did an appalling job.
A hundred & one other little things like missing kitchen utensils that you would expect to be there, poor TV reception, washing machine but no washing powder, broken bits of furniture and walls etc $380 per night way way overpriced, worth more like $80

The amenities were nice.
Had to pay $1 for 6 minutes for the shower. $4 for the washing machine and dryer. The park was nice. Seemed like a family orientated park, but was a little pricy for a powered site, especially having to pay for the shower on top of the site fee. Other than that, it was a nice clean park.

Long day travelling and looking forward to a shower.
Should have got 7 minutes of hot shower got no minutes just ran cold. Smelt like open sewer in the cold shower. One next door not so bad but shouldn't have to move! Dump station really awkward to access. Numbers not easy to identify you have to go through ridiculous TV programs street names. Finally worked ours out between Peyton place and Ramsey st. Just put the numbers on the sites.

We were here in the off-season so it was very quiet, like a ghost town.
We arrived at 7pm and the office was already closed but we had instructions to find a spot. The kitchen was huge and freezing cold. The bathrooms were cold too and the hot water was not working. In the morning the staff tried to remedy the situation and reimbursed our shower money. Definitley not my favorite holiday park.

Overcrowded, cramped, noisy and overpriced.
I will not return during busy times (Dec, Jan, Feb; school holidays; public holiday weekends) as there were too many people for the space and facilities, which made for a frustrating, tiring stay. Toilets ran out of toilet paper by the end of the day. Not enough tables under shade, so many guests have to eat their meals at the tables in the sweltering sun. (The sail that provides shade over part of the dining area is also the only protection from rain, so I presume that on rainy days the guests who miss out on tables under the sail have to eat standing in the spaces between tables or wait hopefully for someone at a table to finish their meal and leave!) There was a radio station playing constantly in the kitchen and bathrooms - no way to turn it off - this made for a noisy, unpleasant environment. This is the most expensive campground I've ever stayed at but has nothing that other campgrounds don't have to justify the extra cost. The pool is lovely but so crowded that it's hard to keep out of each other's way moving around the pool. Some campsites are under trees but the entire double row of campsites that we were in has no shade at all. The row of campsites we were on is parallel to a busy road, separated by a hedge and footpath from the road: loud traffic noise including trucks was constant from 6am on.

While they were nice enough to give me a big discount (usually $46 a night but brought it down to $23 for me, travelling by myself) I didn't find much that I liked about this park, considering the (still
) high price. It was massive, not in a great location (I'd expect this to dictate the price), had a very small TV room considering the size of the park, and you had to pay for a shower. Pros are that the wireless is fast (you still have to pay for it) there are lots of toilets and they are clean, the staff were all very nice and polite, and the bathrooms also had hairdryers and straighteners for those interested. A fine park to stay in if you just want to re-charge over night but not a destination in itself.

At last, a spacious Top 10 site - we got a great pitch for our motorhome under trees, with a view across the park to the stream, ducks etc.
Musac from kitchen (as at Te Anau and other places) an unwanted intrusion - but it gets turned off fairly early. What looks like a permanent encampment of weird and wonderful mobile homes, old caravans etc in one section of site is strange and a bit of an eyesore but you get used to it. Staff helpful. We recommend OdysseyNZ for your wineries tour. Choose a pitch away from noisy road beyond the big hedge. Good facilities. We enjoyed our stay - but wished the site was in the more attractive Napier.
