Lovely location in terms of beach and really friendly staff.
Cute little playground next to the kitchen. I really wanted to like this place more, however for the price you're paying, the facilities are just not that great. Small unstocked kitchen, showers were good and toilets just okay. Defo not worth $60 especially considering there are some free spots down the road, and the camp spots are a bit slanted. Also, I don't know if it was just because the were renovating, or if the tank just needed emptying, but where we camped absalutly stunk. It's probably lovely if your glamping as those spots looked nice. Wish there was more nice things I could say as the woman on reception was really lovely, but that smell really put us of :(

A beautiful location with a quiet beach.
We had a non-powered site. Clean facilities, good kitchen, gorgeous view. It’s very well managed & you can tell effort has been put in to make it a nice experience & place for everyone. The only thing is the bathroom light is on a sensor so kept turning off during my shower since no one else came in to trigger the sensor and it couldn’t see me in the cubicle. Unlimited shower time but be as quick as possible as they are on a limited supply.

By the small beach with lots of camping options.
I paid $25 for a non powered site, seeing the ocean thru s gap in the expensive cabins. The cafe is a scene on the weekends with young families. They are updating the facilities. Kitchen has large fridge and freezer and there is free wifi.

Bit expensive for a powered site ($60) for 2 since the facilities are basic.
Golden sands is a bit of a stretch, better to go for a swim over the hill at Mikori Beach ⛱.

Myself and baby goat stopped in there initially for 1 night.
Place is so beautiful I ended up staying for 2. Camp is right on the beach and the beach is amazing! $25 p/n for unpowered site. The facilities are super clean and way above average! The permanent residents are also super friendly. Would def recommend 😊.

Paid $75 for three of us on a powered site.
Kitchen is fine, showers and toilets rather basic, which would be fine if the cost wasn’t so high
Host very nice and friendly and gave us a sheltered site in a windy day which was much appreciated
Has a cafe on site , and a grassy spot to sit by the beach.
Loads of hermit crabs running around in the rock pools!

We stayed here in May 2017.
We arrived in the dark and was met by a very friendly and helpful host who accommodated us even though most of the park was water logged due to recent heavy rains. We certainly appreciated the spot. However, I would have to agree that the facilities need a revamp and the price is quite high.

Stayed here in early November 2016.
We expected more for the money we paid!
Campsite is situated directly next to the highway with logging trucks passing all day and night. Yet it offered a good sea view.
No rubbish bins in the kitchen which was rather small and lacking all cutlery/crockery etc.
The showers were outdated, but clean.

A place with several positive aspects and some areas for improvement.
Location itself is great, a grassy area with some trees spread around and some hills in the back. Direct beach access. Good working free Wi-Fi. Warm welcome. The facilities are a bit mixed. Kitchen and BBQ are OK, but just one toilet for all gents on the site? When we were there it wasn't busy, but I could imagine that at peak times there are people queuing up stamping from one foot to the other. Hot showers available, but in fact pretty hot and you can't regulate them. A bit overpriced at 44 NZD for two people in a campervan given the quality of the facilities, but still probably the best alternative around Gisborne.

Dated and overpriced.
Also know as Tata Motor Beach Camp. Friendly manager and free good WiFi. Kitchen is small and without cookery. No washing tables, only 1 toilet at the mens and the showers are very basic concrete with a curtain, which you don't expect for two persons in a camper for $36 without power. Nice beach view and quiet although the road is in the background. Manager should step his game up and invest in decent facilities to make it price worthy.

Stunning location.
Well defined camping sites right on beach (low tide the best as you can walk out in between the rocks) Friendly managers and not too crowded even though in peak season. Facilities dated but clean with hot showers.

Nice place near the ocean.
Close to a very good surf beach. A lot of backpackers. Toilets and shower (free and with hot water) was clean, only fridges in the kitchen didn't smell very good, but that's only bad thing. Free Wifi works good.

We came here in our campervan in July and had almost the whole place to ourselves.
The host couldn't have been anymore helpful than he was and everything was clean. The only thing that was annoying was the wifi didn't work all the time. But hey it was free. Would recommend this place over any of the bigger parks. And we got to watch the full moon rise and the sunrise too. It's the place where you will see them rise first in the world. If in the area would stay here again.
