A quiet nicht place.
Friendly wellcome.
Showers and toiletts could be renovated, but are clean.
On my stay a gardener was heavy working with his grasscutter for an hour at 8 p.m. not so cute.
Internet 5$ for 1 GB, but not working as it should.

Pretty grim.
Staff were nice on the phone but bathrooms very dirty and smelly. Weird vibe too. For 18.50 per person you can get a LOT better elsewhere.

The bedding was clean plenty of towels.but that's where it ended the family unit was smellie dirty rotting carpet bench and sink needed taking out and new one installed 165 dollars a night 2 adults and
2 under 4 the TV room a joke dirty old chairs no WiFi and we had a resident mouse in the couch. Pools were great

The staff of the place was very kind, de paid 20 PP for camp area, we had access to the shower, kitchen, laundry and 3 thermal pools, quiet and peaceful environment, we really like the place highly recommend

Was apprehensive booking considering due to bad reviews, but place was great.
Parked motorhome on gravel site that had small grassed picnic area. Kids loved the pool, clean and warm. Small lounge area, not that we used it. Kitchen had two stoves, microwave, toasters, one kettle and a couple of sinks. A couple of large covered BBQ areas. Friendly atmosphere.

18,50$ pP unpowered tent site.
WiFi charges additional 5$ for 1gb data. You can get power from the TV room. Kitchen is available with oven and fridge, didn't try the hot springs but they looked enjoyable. Very friendly owner! They really care about you.

$40 for a powered site, decent toilets and kitchen block but only 2 showers per gender so gets busy.
Campervan spots relatively squished together so not much privacy. Very convenient for Hobbiton.
Pool is nice and the warm pools are a good feature but WiFi is extra.

Busy campground even in March.
Free access to the pools. Kitchen and showers undersized for the number of people staying. Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

Called ahead prior to our arrival in our camper, friendly and helpful over the phone, choose us the perfect site to stay, very clean, peaceful location and the pools were a great temp for this time of
the year. We were going to stay another night but due to circumstances we had to leave early, we will be definitely going back in the future........

I stayed here because it was the closest available campsite near Hobbiton.
I stayed only for 1 night.
Personal was friendly.
Not enough showers and toilets (only 2 men, 2 women) although I just say there was no queue.
Wifi was bad, and there was no Vodafone reception so I had to go to Matamata for contact with home.
Price was on the high side and it included use of the spring, which I did not do because it was only to spent the night.
Some permanent residents in caravans here as well.

Busy campground even in March.
Free access to the pools. Kitchen and showers undersized for the number of people staying. Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

In the 2nd month of our 3 month tour of New Zealand and have stayed at holiday camps most nights.
This one is great. Friendly and helpful staff, nice hot spring pools to relax in, and clean units.

Very kind woman at reception.
Camping has some perks like 3 hot pools outdoor, with some leaves in it but still cool. Changing room right there.
Bathroom are simple and clean, hot water running unlimited.
The camping is not very fashion or modern but works good, it is in the middle of nowhere so make our stay nice at the winter night watching starts in the pools.

The earlier reviews were right.
This site has great potential but is very tired. There are just two showers for each sex. It has a separate toilet block in which one door lock was worn out, a cold tap didn’t work and the mirror is set for men of 5ft in height!
Overall the facilities are just OK but I would recommend you bulldoze the lot and start again. Take an example from the some of the Top Ten campsites.

GREAT hosts!
Very lovely and welcoming hosts who were incredibly helpful and friendly! Nice hot pools and swimming pool; great, clean facilities! Highly recommend! Any poor reviews were probably from the previous owners whom we heard did not clean or run the place well.

Not sure why this place gets a bad rap.
Stayed in the cabins here after my Hobbiton tour - comfy beds, got your own little kitchen, nice views, clean facilities, and even wifi! Ended up staying another night. And the staff is very friendly. 10/10

We paid $37 for an unpowered site for 2 and what a rip off.
Toilets in the town centre were cleaner than the ones at the site. The showers were dirty and there were only 2 for each gender which wasn't enough for the amount people who were there. When we checked in we said we needed to do laundry as there are no laundrettes in town, she didn't tell us there was no power until later that evening! We did our wash the next day and they came out of the dryer after about an hour as wet as they went in and we cleaned it as instructions said. Didn't feel safe walking around in dark with some of the permanent residents. We have been travelling for 6 weeks and this is the worst paid campsite we stayed in.

70 sites + cabins, in a nice enough setting.
Too many residents. Small as kitchen, only one scrub brush and not even a towel. 4 dirty showers, by the end I had ankle deep water as the hole was block off by hair and such. The pool are packed and not the 37 - 39 'c stated. Poor value for money, thought the lady at reception is nice.

A nice riverside location, with a large swimming pool and several hot springs.
Small kitchen & lounge. Good laundry and great BBQ. Looking a bit tired.

It is a bit shabby but it is pretty cheap and you get to use the pool fed from the hot springs.
It is the closest campsite to Hobbiton as well which is handy.

Nice campground, really friendly woman at the reception, huge sites.
It was the nearest campground to the i-site in Matamata (<10 minutes drive) where we start the Hobbiton Tour.

Very friendly staff.
The kitchen is a little bit small. And there are not enough showers. I had to wait long. Especially becaue it was very buisy. But the pools are great.

Stayed here the night before our tour of Hobbiton.
Although it is the closest holiday park to the movie set, still allow 30 minutes or so for the drive...It is confusing and very easy to get lost! Holiday park has extremely friendly hosts; facilities are older, but clean enough; camper spots are spacious; the location is peaceful. Only complaint would be the state of the public hot spring pools. They need a MAJOR overhaul. Clumps of rust from the pipes were floating around everywhere and pieces of the side of the pool were flaking off in chunks. Also, the pools were more "warm" than "hot." Could use some major TLC.

We enjoyed a soak in the hot pool .The facilities could definitely use some updating.

The site was ok, facilities all there and clean enough.
The 'hot springs' were a huge let down.
There are 3 pools, however one is actually a chlorinated swimming pool (full of kids having lessons) and the other 2 were not as hot as stated, and the pools themselves are very slimy. Didn't stay in long at all and felt like I needed a good scrub to clean the grime off me once I got out.
