Nice enough spot in a very good location.
Check in etc is smooth and the facilities are clean but a little bit tired. Pitches are a decent size. There’s a few caravans that look like they’re here permanently. Nice and quiet while we were here though, and nothing really to complain about. Solid place to stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here.
We chose this for location and were not disappointed. We initially planned to camp with our tent and were given a spot right outside the amenities. Until the cyclone hit and destroyed our tent on the first night. The staff here were incredible and made adjustments so we could move into a cabin for the remainder of our stay. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff and the vibe at this place. The showers were hot and free which was great! The kitchen facilities were plentiful and ensured there was enough room for everyone even as it got busier towards the weekend. Would definitely recommend and definitely stay again

This campsite was ok, but we thought it was slightly over priced for what it is.

Travelling with my husband in a motorhome we spent one night at this park.
We were given a site directly in front of the amenities building; however being a long weekend I think we were lucky to get a site at all! The amenities were good; clean, free showers and a hairdryer in the ladies. I used the laundry which was good; the standard $4 per wash and dry. The campsite is within walking distance to the town centre and is situated the opposite side of the road that the water is; so no water view, just in the blocks of the town. It was an OK stopover, nothing to write home about.

Small site with excellent facilities for children.
Our 5 year old daughter loved the playground and trampoline and we made use of the BBQ and the small pool. Showers were good. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. The lady in reception was really lovely and welcoming and helped book our boat trip. there is also an excellent playground at the harbour where the boat trips leave.

This park was nice and quiet.
Amenities were good, but had to press a button on the showers after 5 minutes to keep the hot water going (and the button was on the outside of the shower door). The kitchen and laundry was good. Had to pay to wash and dry the clothes. Powered sites were reasonably priced and the service was friendly.

This was the second stay at this campsite for us, with new managers friendly and helpful and clearly keen to build a good reputation; with ongoing improvements to the park.
Price is reasonable, everything needed is there, and the caravan sites of a good size.

Lovely campground with flat grassy spots, close to town.
Nice & clean facilities including kitchen (bring your own kitchen equipment), free hot showers, dining and TV room, bbq area, playground, trampoline and even a swimming pool. Owners were really friendly and helpful. $19 for a non-powered site, $4 per washing machine and WiFi for $2/250MB, $5/1GB at the time of our stay. All in all worth a visit.

New owners are sooooo Rude count the days before the next lot are in there to take over if they don't bust first with that womans attitude!!!
Have stayed here previously and have met some neat people from all over the world and country. Has been a favourite place for those who have retired that travel with their cats & dogs around the country. Not no more!!!! NO young people or NO pets was was i was told when I phoned to book. Apparently they are turning up market and want to appeal to families. Best they bowl the facilities they have there and start fresh then! Might want to chop down the mass amount of trees too. Doubt most want their 100-200k campers scratched by the many falling branches and over grown trees!

We stayed at the Harbourside over the Boxing Day/New Years 2012/2013 period for a total of 8 days and frankly the owners decision was a good one.
I as a woman on her own with one child felt safe and secure, although at times we did have to put up with the noise, excess alcohol consumption, filth and the way the young people that were at the camp took over, without the care and consideration of Angela & Chris who have worked so hard to put the camp back together again our stay could have been a lot worse. Good on you Harbourside I will definately stay again and would recommend the camp to anyone who wants nice peaceful and safe surroundings in Whitianga.

booked and paid deposit in August 2012 email to prove receipt, Xmas day emailed to check everything ok, received email outlining ownership issues.
According to the landlord (new management by the way) previous tenants took the bookings and deposits and disabled facilities - not sure about history of this as heard new management owed previous tenants money for work done on the property. To cut a long story short, the new management rudely informed us 2 days before due to arrive that they had no record of the previous booking and would not let our children and their friends stay because they were unsupervised 18 year olds even though they had a contract with the Harbourside holiday park. They said they were allowed to discriminate against 18 year olds (their words) because they were a family camp. We were prepared to offer parental phone numbers for each member staying but the lady Angela Evans was very rude. Please Please do not go near this camp site, owners very rude and unpleasant. Their attitude is any publicity is good publicity - bring it on, (their words again). Their campsite has left 18 year olds from good families stranded with no accomodation.

I have delayed writing a response because I have had difficulty knowing where to begin with so much misinformation in the one blog. Mrs Pratt your daughter did not have a contract with the Evans family. She and her 14 friends had a contract with a couple trading as " harbourside holiday camp limited" to camp on 3 sites over new year. It is unlikely that your daughter's booking was ever going to be honoured by those operators who were heavily in debt to many businesses when they took her booking, and they had been in default of their lease for many many months. Details of the damage to our property can be learned from the Whitianga police and the insurers. After 2 months of repairs to the property, we started a new business. We are not the same business at all, and we are trading in our own names.
We do not owe any person any money, and we never have.
Your family said you would go to the press if we would not let the group of 15 teenagers stay, and you did. Your comments are indefensible and you have caused a good deal of unnecessary mental stress.
