Half the camping seemed to be dedicated to permanent vacation homes. Great and clean facilities, close to the beach.

We haven’t been able to make a reservation so we just stopped at the different Campsites around Waihi to ask if they have a pitch available.

At TOP10 Waihi Beach they haven‘t had something but they looked this site up in their computer which is only 5 mins away and also a TOP10 campground. We were told they still have some pitches for us so we came here. First we were told rudely there is no free space available. After saying that we were told there is, the lady looked into her computer for a while and then told us, she can not give us a space because others asked earlier and she turned them around so it would be unfair. I was a bit puzzled and double-checked if there is space or not and then she said there is but that it is reserved for other purposes and she can‘t help us. Still don‘t know what went wrong but felt as if we didn‘t fit into this campsites face checks. Rude.

Beachaven holiday park is hubby and my new home from home!

    Can't recommend enough.

Situated minutes walk from the beach which is stunning summer or winter! Summer its swims and breath taking views without being crammed, winter and it's a georgous walks and spectacular views.

The holiday park has some of the friendliest helpful service we've experienced on our travels and adds to the relaxed welcoming atmosphere. The facilities are immaculate ( i mean seriously immaculate!)and user friendly, with rules around visitors and noise which means a mix of family friendly and peaceful. It's a great mix of families, camper Van's etc.

Booking is super easy and our last trip we rang to let them know we'd be late and on arrival ( it was dark and cold winters evening ) we arrived to our studio, subtle lights on and toasty warm for us. Really appreciated that touch of care.

Within walking distance of the village/town hub which has a variety of cafes, boutique stores( Daisy Chain is my favorite). You can stop off at the beach restaurant/bar which is more big city prices/fare or our wee slice of Kiwiana La Vie En Rose for well priced drinks and simple tasty fare at $10 a plate/platter. Not flash but really cruisey and relaxed atmosphere which makes the trip feel more Kiwiana.

We ended up staying 3 nights, we had initially booked 2 nights then added another. To our utter joy one of the staff popped in to tell us our extra night was free.

    We will definitely be back!

Lovely clean, well-lit park with good facilities.

Short walk to the stunning beach, reserve and Flatwhite Cafe. Staff were extremely helpful. As is typical for some Top 10’s, it is a bit pricey and the sites are just that bit too small for larger motorhomes - they fit but they are all pretty close together. Suppose though you are there to spend your time at the beach, not in the van. Recommended.

We've stayed between Xmas and New Year and had a great time.

The staff was always nice and friendly, which is always a great start.

The camping facilities are very tidy. The powered site we've used was not the biggest I've saw, but managed to hold a Retreat 360 with some spare space.

Bathrooms were cleaned on a regular basis, the camping grounds itself is really nice and family friendly. and the kitchen, although a bit small, was always clean and tidy and I didn't have to wait when I needed to use, so probably enough for the size of the camping. According to the team, new kitchen is on the cards for this year.

The laundry could definitely be a bit bigger (maybe for being a family oriented camping, too many small children, which leads to lots of washing required). We had to queue a bit on both occasions we needed to use the laundry. Having said that, the machines were all new and quite big, so even a large load would fit there easily enough.

The site policies related to noise control are really good, and even on New Years Eve, the site was "under control" after 01:00 am (on all other days, the 10:00 pm rule seemed to be followed).

    I would definitely recommend it.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you for your feedback we really appreciate you giving your time for this. Your feedback about the laundry is fair however from our point of view we are only full like that for about 2 weeks a year so it would not be viable to put in extra laundry machines at this point, But if we get any busier in the future we will defiantly give it more thought so thanks. Our noise control is something we worked very hard on this year so we are pleased to see it was noticed and will defiantly be doing that from here on in. thanks again for your feedback from the team at Beachaven

On arriving about 7pm Friday evening, we found Laura at reception with a big smile and friendly, welcoming manner.

Our check in was fast and efficient. The curtains were pulled and the heater was on when we got to our unit, so it was lovely and warm inside. We had a two bedroom unit which was bigger than we expected and was really clean and well equipped. Parking right beside the back door, meant easy access for unloading the car. The beautiful beach is close by and there are great cafes near too. Will have to stay longer on our next visit as there’s so much to see and do at Waihi Beach, and also in the nearby towns like Waihi, Paeroa (lots of gorgeous antique shops!), and Katikati. We enjoyed a walk in the Karangahake Gorge (there are a few walks to choose from) which was only about a 15 minute drive from Waihi Beach. Definitely recommend Beachaven!

This holiday park has great proximity to local amenities - the beach, and local cafe 'Flat White' were all within walking distance, with further choices a short drive (or longer walk) away.

Despite arriving at 9.30pm we were welcomed in, and greeted by the lovely staff. We were very impressed the cleanliness of the motel, and the helpfulness of staff. The place had a lovely laid back, community feel, while still being meticulously presented. Many thanks! Jade and Brendon

Lovely and close to the beach, but it is hard to think of positive things like this when you get into a cabin and see the such awful conditions they are in e.g dirty smelly floors + Cockroaches.

Also the camp owner was less than friendly to us and blamed some noise on us when in fact it was the people next door. I found this place dispicable to stay at, and unless you want to have an over the top and dramatic and stressful holiday then I would steer clear of this place.

There are times when all businesses have guests which stay who come to enjoy themselves at the expense of others. This group (see the 4 responses below- all the same group) when asked if we could talk to the person who had made the booking, which we do when there is a group all drinking and partying, refused. Not only did they refuse but carried on for some time and only settled when told that security would be called to remove them. Beachaven is under new management and extensive renovation. You will be delighted with the Reception you receive from the team - Jasamine and Nick - check it out. Feedback since this experience in February has consistently been rated excellent for service. If you are not 100% happy with your stay please tell us at Reception so that we can ensure that you are happy.

Prime location, however experienced an awful stay.

Our cabin seemed to have a cockroach problem, the vinyl flooring appeared to have had a camp fire lit on it at some stage, and people were being locked in the bathroom when the bedroom door was shut because of the door nobs that caught on each other. The camp owner approached our cabin one evening in a very aggresive manner to inform us that he had dealt with a noise complaint about other campers and that he wouldnt be tolerating any noise because of the various (1 person) complaints he'd recieved. We werent talking much louder than a whisper, nor did we have any music playing, my 2 children (aged 1 & 8yrs) were sound asleep approx 2 metres from where we were sitting. Beach Haven Camp ground is a place to AVOID if you are looking for a place to relax near the beach.
