We parked our camper at a non powered site.
Super close to the caves which was great. Has everything you need, good toilets, good showers, washer and dryer for extra $4 each. Also has pool and spa which I didn’t use plus kitchen and media room area. Pricy at I think $29pp but that’s about normal for the top 10 places I think. We didn’t have to book or anything so that was nice.

2 adults on powered site for 1 night. Motorhome $64.
A very good site spoiled for me by the showers. Curtain and mat but push button for 10 minutes. Trouble was it was difficult to see what was the button and whether it worked. Water seems to be getting warmer but didn’t. Tried another cubicle. Difficult to see if button worked. Water did get hot eventually but then the flow dropped off.
That apart a very good site only 500m from the caves

Easy to get around and a couple places to eat within walking distance. Could use a second dump site but on a slow day it's no biggie, however, the water hookup didn't work for our rental.

If you like being in the middle of a playground and noise with pitches within 2 meters of each other very close, this is ideal.
If you want privacy and quiet evening then I would not recommend it and expensive. The dump station area was in an terrible state too.

Nice grass pitch, slight slope.
Nice and quiet, toilets and showers are good, a little grubby (but certainly not the worse we’ve seen) and could do with paper towels and hair dryers (a hairdryer was only available in the block at top of park), due to size of park a bigger shower block at bottom would be needed, luckily we stayed on a quiet night so queuing was not an issue. Would stay again.

Nice, clean site and facilities. Young lady on reception was really helpful with everything including booking cave tour. The sites were quite close together and we actually had to ask to move to another site as we couldn’t fit in the original site and reach the power. Also the second site wasn’t completely flat which was weird because all the sites have been completely landscaped and gravelled. Still, would recommend.

WOW! so peaceful and beautiful
The amenities are so clean they shine, the staff are super friendly, but the best part is the beautiful quiet country location. A smallish park by comparison but that only adds to the charm. rolling hills surround the park and there are beautiful picnic tables to sit, eat and drink under a big beautiful tree.
Perfectly located within a super easy 500m walk to the caves.
Wish we were staying here for a week!

Very peaceful campsite, and easy to find.
Top quality toilets and showers, and free wifi, which is what you expect for the price. Right in Waitomo village, so great for cave tours, and not too busy in October. Hot pool which is also nice for a dip. There's also a great restaurant next beer that does local craft beer, which is highly recommend.

Hi Liz,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback; we really appreciate it. It's great to hear what we're doing well, and also what could be improved. It's a bit tight in the laundry at the moment, but we'll look into how we might be able to make it work better for our guests.
Hope you've had a great trip home or to your next destination.

We stayed there for one night with our tent to go for a trip through Waitomo caves the next day.
Although we reserved almost half a year before we were forced to find a place ourselves on the regular tent site as ours on a terrace at the side of the road was blocked by a car. The tent site is quite hilly and therefore this was not an easy task. Furthermore the complete park was quite full and there is just one washroom building which is only cleaned once a day - some of the few toilets were really disgusting. The place obviosly lives from the cave tourists, so our impression was that the owner didn´t see the necessity of preparing a site that hits the needs of campers, i.e. at least half-decent flat ground and hygienic standards.
The staff was friendly, the surroundings quite nice (lots of king fishers and tuis around the place).

Hi Susi,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review, and I'm really sorry to hear that your stay with us wasn't up to standard. After some feedback on our busiest nights (including yours), we have made some changes to our washroom cleaning schedule to help ensure that they remain clean and tidy. I know it's too late for you, but I want to assure you that we do hear your needs and suggestions. I'm also sorry that your campsite was blocked; it's usually a matter of first in, first served, and a booking in advance will get you one of the flatter and closer sites, but of course we can't control all the variables.
I hope you've had a safe and happy onward journey, and that your time in Waitomo wasn't too spoiled by some unfortunate issues with your stay here.
Kind regards,
Jenn

Hi Lavina,
Thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to share it. We really appreciate it. I did just want to clear one thing up: we do have plates etc. available for the kitchen - they are kept in the office, but anyone can borrow them and use them while here. Sorry if that wasn't clear to you while you were staying!
Hope you've had a great trip in New Zealand!

Good modern facilities.
Hot pool is great and heated. Campervan parks not level. Bad when sleeping. Close to caves and booking. Whilst using showers lights will turn off as they are sensor activated when this happens it is pitch black and unsafe. Reception staff friendly. Most expensive site so far. $60 for 2 adults and one 2 year old child for one night.

Finally a Top 10 that lives up to its name!
For a start, it's much prettier and more tranquil than other Top 10's because it's set in beautiful lush rolling countryside. The grounds are immaculate. It's compact but has everything you need on site, including a very nice pool and hot tub. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's only a 600m walk to the glowworm cave, and I believe the other caves are just a bit further on. Basically, Waitomo is a great place to linger and recharge because it's very small, beautiful, and everything can be reached on foot. We only planned to stay 1 night but ended up staying 2 as it was so nice. Highly recommend the HUHU cafe which is just next to reception, the Top 10 staff will probably mention it to you. We had a fantastic lunch there - innovative menu and very friendly staff. Great for veggies/vegans too. They also have a kids menu I noticed.
Only reason I give this Top 10 a 9 instead of a 10 is because the showers weren't very powerful (although they are hot) - this makes it difficult to wash your hair quickly when you're on a timer! Otherwise, a great experience.

Once visiting the caves, we decided to stay at the Top 10 holiday park.
To start with the good, it's perfectly located to do the caves. Once we arrived, they asked twice if we don't want to join the Top 10 club. We declined and they charged us $54 for 2 adults, powered site. Record during our stay in NZL. If you charge premium, you should deliver premium. Sorry, that by far was not the case. Site was uneven, our campervan was significantly out of balance. Site very crowded, took some time to get a sink to wash our dishes. My wife's shower did not work properly, little water only that was either cold or hot. Would not go there again...

Waitomo Top 10 is a great place to stay right next to the glowworm caves and a great place to meet fellow travelers, locals, and Blackwater rafting guides who hang out at Huhu restaurant next door and
fun Curly's bar across the street. The people at reception are able to book your tours or give you information for Black Water Rafting tours just down the road. The facilities were good and standard for a Holiday Park with laundry, a kitchen (though a bit small), and clean bathrooms.
