Beautiful setting.
Hostess gave us many site options. And even though electronic payment was down, advanced us the code for the wifi.
Only downside was when maintenance man came through spraying diesel to kill grass to make line demarcations. Probably necessary but horrible smell.

Nice spot, beautiful beach and safe for kids.
Very busy in the summer and you are pretty packed in. 50c showers and everything was pretty clean. As others have said, the best spots are permanent caravans. Lots of folks bring boats and there is ample space in the dedicated area.

Mainly semi perm vans but where they put campers is nice grassy area, a cple right on water.
Bathroom & kitchen was good. Right on the most beautiful beach. Top location for a camp. Was only $20 for power on my own. Very nice staff.

Stayed here camping during the end of Summer, really lovely place.
Facilities are large, clean, and well presented. The grounds man was really friendly and filled with knowledge as he had been there for a while. Many permanent caravans, and was only a short walk to the beach from where we were based. We stayed near a drive where in the morning a couple of tractors were taking out boats but it wasn’t too noisy for long. Great place, will definitely go back.

Lovely location with sites right on the beach.
Multi acre site has numerous permanent caravans so resembles a small village- was mostly empty in early March. Tenting area is fairly open but beach sites are shady. Lots of clean cooking space in the big kitchen. Showers (6) are fifty cents/5 mins. Common room and picnic table eating areas are indoor/covered. Kayaks and SUPs for hire at the office but no food supplies. Friendly ducks and bunnies on site but Chris asks don't feed them please.

Unfortunately we didn't get to stay at the campsite as no one answered the ph throughout the whole week I had been calling.
When looking into the website it kept showing cabins & camp sites available so we still went but upon arriving just after closing hours no one answered after hours doorbell (clearly states after hours bell).
We had 3 families with us & finished a long drive so we camped at the beach for the night before heading off again the next day.
Luckily the beach is too beautiful to pass & surrounding areas or this would have ruined our trip!

Excellent campground.
Really surprised us as wasn't too sure as it was council run. Got to be honest I think this is right up there with being one of the best we have stayed in. Only thing I would say, is it would be great if kids were allowed their bikes there, a trampoline, pool would be added advantages. Totally recommend. People really lovely and helpful. Amenties were excellent. Will be back for sure

We spent March 2013 travelling around North Island in a large self-contained camper van.
We visited a lot of different camping places and holiday parks and we’ve reviewed them all for Rankers. We judged them by different criteria from most people. We weren’t interested in playgrounds, paddling pools, trampolines, or all the other facilities for children. Instead we wanted peace and tranquillity, a beautiful location, clean and accessible facilities, and a decent amount of space between sites. We used the holiday parks mostly for one night stops and did not consider them as holiday destinations in their own right. Please read the following review with this in mind.
It’s a big place and it was pretty crowded, especially the beachfront sites, of which we had the last one that was available. Right on the beach. A lot of not well looked after permanent caravans rather spoil the place, but the facilities were good and we spent a pleasant night by the water.
