Sunrise Holidays is a bit different to most New Zealand campervan companies. We’re all about personal service and ensuring you’re set-up for the best experience possible. Sunrise Holidays organised a 6 berth motorhome for a 3 week trip for our family of 4 adults.
There's a great deal to consider and plan, lots of information to gather. The service from Sunrise was invaluable in this process. Communication and support were excellent. I had many queries and Sarah's responses were swift, helpful and comprehensive. It was a personalised service. We were allocated a brand new motorhome. We didn't have any issues but I was 100% confident that Sunrise would respond effectively, which gave us confidence on our trip.

As someone who's lived in a van for 2 years, I felt the only thing I was missing to prepare my trip was a local's perspective.
Cy offered a complimentary session to help walk me through a potential route, despite having no concrete plan. The general route was more beautiful than I imagined. With the extra context, I felt comfortable enough to take some minor detours as I settled in, and the phone app helped greatly.

My fiance and I have nothing but positive things to say about Sunrise, they provided a clean, reliable and versatile vehicle along with all the support we could have possibly needed to provide us with
the trip of a lifetime. We still think back to our campervan 'Trevor' with fondness as it (he) was so comfortable and so versatile. One of the best things about the trip was that we were able to stay where others couldnt and longer than those who could. The solar panels charged througout the day and the gas was so efficient (we only refilled once over our 5 week trip and even then it was still half full) such that we had more than enough power to keep us going wherever we were. So while others were having to travel to the larger campsites to plug in (we met loads of campervanners who were out of power and had to find a large campsite), we were able to pick and choose sites that were off the beaten track, quiet and beautiful (the self contained campsite at the top of Log Race Road in Piha - and its views- were incredible). The Sunrise team offered support every step of the way. When all wrapped together, this meant that we had no worries, no concerns, we were away from the crowds and we could just get on with appreciating how amazing NZ is and enjoying our time away.

Nothing but good about Sunrise Holidays!
Sarah and Cy are amazingly friendly and helpful. Our talks with Cy prior to our trip helped us a lot in planning the whole trip, and during our travelling he was available for itinerary questions and he responded pretty quick. We had a great time.
The weather was on our side even with the ferry crossing!
The chats with Cy prior to the trip proved beneficial, especially the tip around keeping ahead of the weather.
Highlights were Milford Sound, Mount Cook, Abel Tasman, Wanaka and Martinborough. We also had a great time at Hamner Springs, Kaikoura, Taupo, Cambridge and Waitomo Caves.
The finale was lunch on Waiheke Island on our last day.
The only downer was the TV didn't work, but to be honest we didn't care, no TV was a godsend!
A big thank you for your support, it was a memorable trip, an experience we will not forget in a hurry!

I would highly recommend Sunrise holidays.
Sunrise were very responsive to answering questions and the whole process of booking a camper was very smooth. Sunrise use McRent campers and they too were very easy to deal with. The camper was clean and in good condition and the quality linen and bedding was provided.

We rented a 6 beth motorhome over a two month period with Sunrise Holidays and couldn't have asked for a better partner.
Not only was the price and communication fantastic, Cy also took a couple of hours to give us all his insights about New Zealand in various calls. So we had a perfect plan before departure and could fully concentrate on family and adventure. When we visit New Zealand one more time, we will definitely book through Sunrise Holidays again!

Sunrise Holidays were the reason that we were able to have the best family holiday we have ever had!
Sunrise were they are quick to respond and the motorhome provided was excellent. What we really liked was how they offered a personalised Zoom meeting with Cy who has an excellent knowledge and experience of all things NZ! Once we let Cy know what type of holiday we were after he took us through heaps of awesome options and advice. This absolutely meant we experienced things that we would have missed out on and avoided tourist traps giving us a more authentic experience. From the best walks, itineraries, waterfalls, glow worms, campsites (free & paid), which supermarkets were best for what and how to tackle the South Island no matter what the weather, Cy's advice was invaluable and gave us the best chance to have a unique excellent NZ family experience. I would absolutely recommend Sunrise Holidays to make sure you get the most out of your NZ motorhome holiday. We had the best family holiday due to their help and when we come back we will book with them again.

What a brilliant campervan holiday we had with Sunrise!
All the mod-cons to satisfy two teenage girls, and plenty of spectacular scenery and outdoor adventure to please the grown ups. Booking and pick-up was super easy with great communication and instructions. Sarah was friendly and helpful in answering our questions getting us set up. The van was well equiped, really easy to drive, and very comfortable for a family of 4. We had a wonderful few days exploring some new corners of our region that we hadn’t visited before. Breakfast at Cable Bay Beach was a highlight, and a beachfront spot at at Elaine Bay campground - stunning! We loved being in beautiful wild places with the reassurance of a comfy bed, a great little bathroom, and a well equipped kitchen all ready to go. I would highly recommend a Sunrise camper any day.

Wow, what an awesome Sunrise Holidays campervan experience we had.
The booking, organization and pickup was easy, the van spotlessly clean and well equipped. Everything was taken care of and easy and that isn’t always the case with holiday bookings! We spent four days touring the top of the South Island and loved every minute. The extra Deep Nature info app with all the best kept nature secrets was fantastic, where to freedom camp, the best “off the beaten track” walks and experiences and photo opportunities - a fantastic bonus with Sunrise Holidays. If you want an effortless campervanning holiday, Sunrise must be your first choice. We will definitely be booking with them again.

My friend and I lived in our Sunrise camper for 5 weeks and we couldn't have asked for a better company to rent with or vehicle to hire.
At first we weren't sure whether to book with Sunrise as they are a little more expensive than some of the other larger campervan companies. We are so glad we did! The team were always on hand to answer any questions we had prior to the trip and throughout. There were no hidden fees and our camper was so well looked after it felt brand new! We also loved the fact we could cook a full dinner in our mini oven, shower and charge everything we needed in the most beautiful remote locations for days on end. We talked to many campers whilst away and majority had trouble freedom camping for more than a night due to having to charge their vehicle. Ours charged via the solar so we were good to go for days! Just one of the perks of hiring with Sunriseholidays! We certainly wouldn't want to hire from any other campervan company in the future after such a wonderful experience this time. We both can't wait for our next Sunrise Holiday!

The best campervan company in NZ!
We were extremely happy when we found sunrise holidays, a real family business with great values and energy.
Huge difference in service in comparison to the big companies, truly creating a wonderful campervan experience from start to finish the whole team is super helpful and they have a fantastic fleet of awesome and incredibly well equipped. Even having a lovely oven which we managed to bake bread and flapjack ;)
We had the amazing piwakawaka 669 (Henry) and was perfect for us (couple) to have the most amazing trip around NZ.
As others have mentioned the edition of the solar charger and the driving the leisure batteries stay very well charged and allow you to spends weeks/days freedom camping no need to ‘hook up’.
Extremely comfy to driving so the 8000km we did was no problem!
Wether it’s a Long weekend away or big NZ tour I would defo choose sunrise holidays again and can highly recommend them to anyone else for sure!

I lived in "Helen" for a month and she was more than a home away from home.
The Sunrise team were superb from the start. I had to replace a flat tyre in Whangarei and Sarah and the Sunrise crew couldn't have made it easier for me. That single flat tyre was the only issue I had throughout the entire month, and the crew of Sunrise were so attentive the whole thing was sorted out in less than an hour. And I didn't have to bear the cost of replacement. Not only that, when the mechanic suggested replacing both rear tyres, Sunrise didn't flinch at all and willingly authorised the transaction. It really made me feel that safety was a priority for them.
Not only was the vehicle excellent, such a pleasure to drive, and a wonderful temporary home with every convenience provided, but the Sunrise crew are awesome.

We booked a super equipped and very well thought out van with them over 2,5 months and it was absolutely perfect in every way. We were so happy and satisfied that we booked again with them some years later when we came again in NZ. Again wonderful.
Don’t be afraid that it is a small Company, on the contrary they will give you more and with same security as biggest ones anyway. They really provided to us, flexibility, reactivity, full services, close to us, welcoming, listening to us, safety and security with presence all along our journey, immediately ready to help if we need some and they give plenty of information, very good advises and tips.
We have lived that Sarah, Cy and all the team do their best to really give their customers a wonderful experience. They know New-Zealand in depth. They helped us build a very interesting personalized stay and above all you feel safe with them. Even in 2020 when Covid lockdown arrived, they have proven to be very proactive, reactive and helpful, finding accurate solution for each of their customer, they took care of each of us ; exceptional!
First time we came to New-Zealand, we booked with a big Company. Totally different! Communication, lack of proximity, comfort details are missing etc… While with Sunrise it is like a family and they pay attention to our comfort with thoroughly thoughtful details. So that we felt good, safe and comfortable.
In a word, book with them, you will not be disappointed, they have huge experience and service, we were extremely satisfied traveling with them and we highly recommend them warmly and sincerely.

Sarah and Nathan from Sunrise Holidays were always friendly and most helpful with all our questions.
The campervan was clean, the price was good and we never had any problems with our campervan. As it was our first time with a campervan everything was explained to us very well. Pick up and drop off was easy and without any problems. Even when we couldnt fly home and were stuck in New Zealand and got a little stressed cos of the lockdown Sarah and Nathan found a great solution for us and were always kind and supportive. Sarah always answered our questions within minutes. We can only recomment Sunrise Holidays. Its a smaller company where the person counts, not profit. We wish them all the best.

My family of 4 (kids age 6,8) spent seven weeks in "Don" on the South Island and we were beyond impressed with Sunrise Holidays.
The service we received was so much better then we would have gotten from one of the big companies. A few highlights of the rig was that it wasn't covered in stickers so you didn't stick out like a sore thumb. The second was how great the Sunrise team was, we encountered a mechanic problem about midway through the trip. The team bent over backwards to get everything made right and us back on the road. We totally understand that stuff happens and breaks when your house moves down the road so the important part is how the company handles. Stop looking, these are the people to hire/rent from.

I cannot recommend this company more.
Starting from the booking phase to the final handover (after 2 extensions and then having to leave early due to Covid 19) they were accessible, responsive and the customer service was excellent. Everything we needed was included in the price , including tolls, there are no hidden gotchas. As an example of the service, our Sat Nav (GPS) developed a fault. After one email to the fabulous Sarah we were able to collect a replacement in the next town that had already been paid for. We had to leave early as per the above but we intend to return and we will only be looking at one company for a van. Do visit the Koha experience and swim in the river, it is a beautiful spot in a wonderful part of the country.

We (2 adults and 2 small kids) have spent about 7 weeks and roughly 7500km in a Sunrise 6 berth camper van in February and March 2020.

It was our first camping vacation and will be remembered vividly (not only because of the Corona crisis that hit us all). We drifted along without too much planning and had a great time!
The car was properly cleaned, well kept and well equipped and fully filled. We also received a proper introduction to the vehicle upon arrival.
LPG, water and grey water supply as well as battery were large enough for us to mostly use DOC sites or to freedom camp for about 2 days (we cooked and showered daily).
The communication with Sunrise Holidays was always friendly, efficient and reliable. Help was there when needed. (We had to replace our chipped windshield mid-journey and they handled the replacement process very professionally.)
Were we satisfied? 100%
Would we recommend Sunrise? Most certainly
Would we do it again? For sure
