Not the nicest place and when I stayed in July the toilets where closed before 10pm

I've read the rather bad reviews and was hesitant but didn't really have a choice.
In the end, it's true, it's just a small parking lot with a public toilet next to a busy street. However, felt very safe and with earplugs the sound was totally bearable. Plus, one toilet stayed open during the night, which I appreciated a lot. Don't expect a beautiful place but does it's job well

Just a wide paved area next to a busy road.
Not especially level for sleeping. 2 stall bathroom with no light at night. Bring your flashlight.

It was ok for a short one night stay - we stopped while driving from Coromandel to Auckland and there is not a lot of free camps on the way that operate all days in the week.
There is a toilet with running and a sink to wash your hands. But the water is not drinkable.
In the morning you can hear a lot of cars since the parking space in just next to the road.

You’re directly next to a busy road so can’t say it’s a charming camp spot. At night it felt a bit eerie, some hang youth and toilets were dirty. It does the job but that’s it.
