Nearby cafe (the store) has wifi and good food n coffee.

Weak/no cellular reception. Near the main road but closer to the beach and the waves cancel out the sound. Coin laundry and small book exchange. Friendly caretaker.

Lovely spot right by the beach!

There is some traffic noise from the main road but the white noise from the waves kind of balances it out. The cafe shuts quite early at 4pm so just be mindful if it’s cold & wet in the evening! Phone signal seemed to be quite intermittent.

Mid-March and no one else near, plus there's a handy long drop. No road noise because the sea was so loud.

A lovely spot to pull in after arriving late from the Ferry.

It's a large site with facilities and coin operated showers ($2). We got a spot right by the beach and got to see and incredible sunrise and sunset. Clean toilets and showers. At $14 per adult it was a reasonably priced. Cafe the next day for breakfast was incredible.

    A great spot.

We stopped for lunch and decided to stay overnight. Toilets, showers and laundry. $2 for 4 minutes for showers, $4 for washing, $4 for drying. $14 per adult per night for camping. We stayed here a week ago and the caretaker had arrived the day before. You can pay him in cash, pay online or pay at the cafe. Facilities were very clean

Not a pleasant time. There was no signal, you’re slightly sloped, and there’s no dumpsite. The store cafe view was beautiful though and laundry was helpful (coin machine I believe $2).

Arrived at night, no signage/map to direct you where to go.

Drove around the campsite until I realized I had passed the ablution block which was dark. Finally realized there was no kitchen and decided to go elsewhere. The location seems nice, but the website made it seem like there were more facilities here than expected. I’m all for low key camping, but I just expected something different than what was actually the case.

The location and the beach are beautiful The camp though is a great disappointment You need to be self contained to stay here as the facilities don’t cater for the amount of people staying and to make

things worse they only had one shower and one toilet open to cater for about 200 people yesterday and today and forever long they decide

That would be ok but there is no dump site

People travelling past also use the facilities

There is one place by the toilet block where you can get water for your van and then you have to cart it to your site

This could be a great camp if it was run properly as the location is perfect

    Concerning nature I rate 10/10.

You are directly next to the shore with huge waves, black sand.

Concerning the facilities 6/10. 2 showers and 2 toilets for the campground. You can get warm showers for 2 $. If you don’t have, take a cold shower. Fresh water supply available with a long tube. Grey water exit blocked by several long term parking cars. Nobody is really looking or interested. Maybe due to public holiday.

The beach is beautiful yet sadly the camp was a disappointment.

Tenting is a very long walk to Toliet/water/shower there was smell of sewage and we were told we could drive to Toliet which was basic for the price even a portal loo would be good to offer at peak time. Noisey with Rd near by. Thanku to nature the beach is lovely yet wouldn't return to camp.

The campsite area has a slight slope but it's not too bad.

Be aware that the toilet and shower block is at one end of the campsite and not centrally placed. The views of the ocean are to die for which is why you would come here. However, be sure to pack earplugs. SH1 runs alongside the campsite and you get the constant noise of trucks breaking for the S- bend over the railway overpass. Plus there are 2 or 3 trains per night which will definitely wake you. The result was a very poor night's sleep.

Also, while the showers are strong and hot, the ventilation in the shipping container they are built in is woefully inadequate with the result it turns into a suffocating sauna. I was glad to move on after one night.

    A bit disappointed.

Very nice new ablution block. Sites slope markedly towards the sea. Difficult to get the caravan level. Unable to have a meal at the cafe..booked out for a wedding. Noise was the main issue. Loud music until midnight. Railway line right next to camp, 3 freight trains during night. Numerous heavy trucks on main road next to railway line. Very little sleep.

A really beautiful campsite along the highway to stop over for a sleep.

In fact, it’s a fantastic place to stay for a few nights as it’s not far from Kaikoura and Blenheim, as well as the seal colonies along the coastline.

Spacious with plenty of space for everyone, very clean facilities with 3 toilets and 3 showers as well as a sink at the back of the unit for washing up or filling up water bottles.

One downside was a train went past at 2am and the sound/rumbling jolted us awake.

If you stay around until 9 you can get something tasty from The Store.

    Really loved this campground.

We were in a campervan and found a great spot nestled in the trees right by the beach. Only the sound of waves lapping on the shore at night with an amazing sunrise in the morning. The store opens at 8.30am so perfect for a coffee and snack before hitting the road. Clean facilities and reasonably priced.

The Store people at Kēkerengū are invariably friendly and onto-it, and they front an irresistible café as well as the new camp site next door.

At just over an hour south of Picton this is the best place to park up after the late ferry crossing from Welly. Just rock on in, wake to the surf, and pay (hardly anything) for your over-nighter at the Store café when you pick up your first long black of the day. But Kēkerengū is so naturally pretty and the café and the landscaping and shower block have such good design IQ you could turn up way earlier and be twice as happy.

Used to pass it by until someone said its newly improved.Totally beach front, large flat sites with plenty of choice, even a few in the nearby forest! A new toilet block with great showers was welcome. Woke up next morning to dozens of dolphins frolicking just metres away. - special experience. Great coffee and breakfast at The Store makes it a favourite stop on our trips to Christchurch.
