Seal Coast Safari
Connect with the ‘real New Zealand’ during your breathtaking 3-hour Seal Coast Safari! Stories abound as we drive for 20 rugged kilometres along the beach, around the bays and headlands, to Tongue Point – home to a colony of New Zealand fur seals. Tea or coffee with a gourmet muffin is enjoyed with the seals as you take in the beauty of the natural habitat they live in, experiencing the crashing waves and the famous Leaning Lighthouse.
To get to the seals we travel in our 4WD vehicles to the Brooklyn Wind Turbine, along a fault-line and through the hills of a farm which we have exclusive access to. Here you can see goats, ostriches and wild horses! You’ll be amazed by the spectacular views of the city, the Pacific and Tasman Oceans and the distant mountain ranges of the South Island.

My wife wasn't too sure about this tour when we scheduled.
After taking it she is giving it a Blue Ribbon in her scapbook and tells everyone how enjoyable it was. John McKinney was our tour guide and he is the owner as well. He made the tour. Friendly and knowledgeable, made us feel welcome. When we go back this will be a repeat. We traveled to New Zealand February 2008.

Great tour!
I wasn't too sure when we started climbing the hills outside of town, but it was great. I liked the small more personal atmosphere instead of the big tour buses. I would love to do it again.

Had friends over from the US, so thought would take them out for a tour of our rugged coastline and see some seals.
When the 4x4 did arrive.....like 10mns after they were suppose to be out front, the vehicle was filthy inside and out.
Also very hard riding and driver kept looking at us instead of looking at where he was going while talking. There was no safety equipment on board and when asked the driver what would happen if he got stuck out here he said he would have to walk to get cell phone coverage, but there is no purpose recovery unit able to rescue them from out there. Whilst the seals were great our nerves kept us from enjoying the outing. Not sure if these people have qualifications or experience in driving these vehicles in such dangerous terrain. Wouldn't recommend. Amazing they haven't had a serious incident yet, but then again who knows.

It was fun bumping around on the sand-rocks for the off-road experience.
I appreciated our guide Kent who was great. I saw 6 or 7 seals on my trip and some other animals too along the way.
