Information

Bill’s Lookout

200 m return | 5 minutes return

Bill’s Lookout is named after Bill, a local personality in Picton who first discovered the joys of this spot.

Walking Track

Access

15 km from Picton along Port Underwood Road, at the apex of the hill is a wide gravel bay.

Track

There’s a metal road to the left and a scabby looking track to the right. Take that, which leads to the power pole.

The track is not marked or administered.

Geology

The extra bit of height is just enough for views in both directions. South looks over Port Underwood, past White Bluff to Cape Campbell. Snowy peaks of the Inland Kaikouras are also there. West looks over Queen Charlotte Sound with Karaka Point protruding into the shimmering water.
