Lovely, natural and very peaceful campsite that is easy to find.
We arrived on a Saturday night and there was only 2 other camps there - the area is spacious and has naturally divided areas for privacy. There is a lovely, clean stream that is nice for a dip in hot weather. The drop toilet is also well maintained. The sun drops behind the hill early evening in summer, so the campsite is shaded.

Beautiful, scenic and peaceful camping spot.
The space is reserved for 6 tents only so the area is quiet and relaxing. There's 2 walks around the lake, where you may even spot a kiwi (make sure you walk at night and take a red torch to see them!) The camping spot is quite exposed so take some warm clothes! Toilet facilities are clean and well maintained and the area is generally very well looked after.
Thanks Emily. Glad that you had a relaxing stay here.

Beautiful, lake side campsite.
The campsite is very chilled and catches the evening sun up until sunset so is nice and warm. It can get busy during summer, so grab your spot as soon as you can! Trees dot the lakeside so you can pitch up either tent or camper somewhere shaded - the trees were perfect for our hammock. Cute, friendly ducks come and say hi too! Basic long drop toilets are dotted through the campsite, but nothing special. The campsite is free, but there are donation boxes too. A lovely nights stay.

A small but very quiet area.
There are 2 tent/campervan sites next to each other that are situated in a courtyard with the lodge rooms - even in peak season, this was very quiet but the area is not hugely spacious if you are camping. The facilities are clean and well maintained but vsmall - there's 1 toilet, 1 shower and a small kitchen area. The kitchen has generous facilities - oven, hob, toaster, kettle and fridge. Carol the owner was quick to communicate when we emailed to book, which was helpful. A few sandflies but nothing that couldn't be deterred with some bug spray. Cow and sheep in the next girls were friendly too!

The reviews are right about sandflies - but these are OK if you cover yourself up with Bugspray - they will fly around you but not bother you.
The location is worth it - the campsite is next to a beautiful stream and there are clean and usable facilities for both shower and toilet on site. The site doesn't get at all busy and there are several clumps of trees that offer shade and a spot to hang a hammock. The owners have a lovely, old Pub on the site that has the most friendly cat, cheap beers and both indoor tables and a lovely beer garden. They also serve food but we did not eat here.

We went in peak season and it was empty, plenty of space for our car and tent in an ideal spot.
The field is huge and surrounded by a stunning trickling stream. There is BBQ facilities and a toilet block. Bring your bug spray as it's mosquito central!! But it's ideal for one night wild camping in a rural and remote setting surrounded by the sound of chirping birds. Extremely relaxing!
