Great stay for New Year celebrations.
Great bar/restaurant attached to site. We certainly saw in 2019 in a happy environment. Great food. Staff very friendly.
Amenities a little tired but did the job. Shower lovely and hot. Washers a bit worn out
Site really does have a fabulous rainforest feel. Pitches good. Nothing too far away.
Site is close to all bars and restaurants, 2 mins out of site.

Situated next to lake.
Our pitch backed onto rugby site which wasn’t very picturesque. Glimpses of lake on some pitches Showers and toilets clean and food hot showers. Cooking and rest facilities bright and clean.
Short walk approx 10-15mins to lake and bars and restaurants.
Staff appeared friendly. Security on site which was a first !!!

Amazing views of Mt.Cook and lake.
Absolutely fabulous free site
Plenty of spaces available on 3 different areas of same site . Room for big campers. We arrived 830pm and still plenty of spaces available. Lakeside spaces. Pine tree forest by lake for shady spots.
4 clean drop toilets with toilet paper and alcohol gel dispensers (Unfortunately empty when we visited) disabled access too.
Honesty box by loos to contribute but not obligatory.
Would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Beautiful spot. Can’t believe it’s free. Thank you NZ 🥰

Awesome quirky site.
Score 10+++
Owner has definitely added some interesting humorous and arty pieces to this site. Showers and amenities excellent, plenty to use, never a wait, all close by. Lovely hot showers. All very clean.
Stayed for 3 nights. Had one night in a motel as family joined us, which was clean and comfortable with supply of basics which was thoughtful. 2 nights in camper site was fab. Cute sociable plots, enough room for privacy too.
Staff were brilliant, so cheerful. One in particular, wish I’d noted her name. Mid-length blond hair, glasses, you know who you are!!!! So helpful and funny. Always made our day 🤗
Definitely recommend to stay. Close by to town. Just a 5min walk. We can’t wait to return.
Thank you for a fab stay

Great for families with playground facilities for kids.
Mixed showers, not everybody’s ideal but good for families. 6 minute showers that intermittently go cold. Meant to give a cold spray 1min before 6mins are up. Definitely not the case. We had cold/hot uncomfortable showers constantly. When requesting your camping spot. If you’re without kids and want a relaxed time make sure you ask to be placed elsewhere as there’s plenty of inconsiderate parents who hoof their kids out of their campers at 730am to disturb others sleeping 🤬 perhaps more thought should be made of those organising plots to ensure families are together!!! I requested quiet spot with lake views and get neither !!!
Had to completely wash out camper after stay as grass spots or more dust, mud than grass !!
WiFi is to be paid for....come on this is the 21st century!!!
Campsite definitely overcharges as have captive audience as only site in that area, such arrogance !!
All in all a pretty spot on lake with amenities close by.

Rate 10 just for position of campsite.
Set on a sunny hillside with stunning views. Wooded walkway 10mins on steep hill to beautiful town (longer uphill walk home 😅)
Shower and toilet facilities dated but functional with lovely hot free showers.
Swimming pool a bonus although didn’t use, looked good.
Well kept site with lovely grassy pitches, no dust or gravel.
Only stayed one night. Wish we had time to stay longer. Definitely recommend!!

Basic flat surface car park with approx 20+ free pitches.
Be prepared is very windy. Good spot on beach. A cold wind whilst we were there. Certainly heard this waves crashing. Two toilets which were clean. Young vibe. Felt safe.

Despite other reviews.
Found owners friendly and helpful. Showers lovely and warm. Pitch for camper good size with electric hookup. Appears to be long term/living-in campers on site. No noise away from main road. Cost no more than any other site at peak time. 20min walk into town with good bars and shops.

Situated directly across road from beach.
Busy camp with lots of activity. Paid for lovely warm showers 50c/6mins. Bar/restaurant on site with live music which doesn’t effect noise levels. Coffee bar We stayed two nights and site was quiet with relaxed holiday vibe. Easy access to Abel Talsman activities with water taxi pick up outside camp if required. Cycle and kayak activities nearby. Staff at reception and shop very friendly and helpful.
If you prefer quieter, natural camping site probably best you don’t stay here.

Beautiful natural surroundings on riverside.
Quiet and relaxing. Good sized pitches. We stayed powered plot by riverside which was lovely.
Lovely riverside walk. Not far from Murchison Town. Free use of some cycles at site. River swim pool didn’t make use of but looked lovely. Kids playing at riverside.
Owner very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend and would return

Top10 at its best.
Facilities great. Showers hot, clean and modern. Even provided hairdryers. Spotless laundry room. Lots for kids, play park, beach, lovely atmosphere. Lovely cooking facilities for those who need it. Staff friendly and helpful. They seem to have thought of everything at this site. Pitches spacious, grass or tarmac. Unfortunately didn’t get to see the sunset as weather wet. Bonus sleeping to sound of waves crashing on shore. Top end price but get what you pay for. Would recommend and stay again.

Lovely spot off beaten track.
Walk through dunes from car park spot to beautiful sandy beach. Great for surfing and walks with access to Te Whara Track.
Only 5/6 spots available so would need to get there early to avoid disappointment. Appears 4 drop toilets have recently been replaced by two toilets and cold shower facility.
