We Booked a 2+1 berth camper-van from CampaSouth based on online reviews.

If there ever was an example of the internet hive mind working well, this is it! The company is absolutely brilliant. I will not go on and on, as there are plenty of details in the other 10 star reviews.

What we liked most is:

1. Excellent communication, with great response time from the owners.

2. Incredibly friendly and genuine people.

3. We picked the van up in Auckland, and the process was smooth and pleasant; the van, though old and with incredible mileage, was a joy to drive and live in.

4. No logos on the van meant that everywhere we went, we were treated as locals. Most people renting a camper-van will do so before they arrive in NZ, and I didn't quite realise just how important a point this is. The country is full to the brim of heavily advertised vans, and it gets annoying fast. You really don't want to be the one driving the immediately recognisable rental van. Great on Susan and Graham that they keep their vans ad-free!

5. The van was so well taken care of. Despite the mileage (441.000 on ours when we dropped it off), it took the 4000+ km we threw at it with aplomb. The engines are bullet-proof, and the interior is well thought-out and well maintained. And, just as importantly, the vans are full of charm. We named ours Ciccio, and we miss it!

6. Price-quality ratio is unbeatable.

7. There really are no hidden costs. Graham and Susan are, to put it mildly, very reasonable when it comes to what they count for insurance purposes. If you rent with them, you can trust that you are renting from very honest people.
