We used Porter's Lodge as our base for two nights while doing Arthur's Pass (Avalanche Peak - tough one but worth it) and were astonished by the views and the hospitality at the Lodge.
The hosts are lovely and very welcoming, the food is yummy and the Lodge itself is warm and cozy. There's warm and free showers, clean facilities, two cute dogs to cuddle, FREE and fast WiFi.
Perfect place to lift up your legs and relax after a tough day of hiking. Would definitely come again!

We stayed for two nights at a non-powered site and had such a great time!
Really nicely set up campground with clean facilities and walks that start just outside the campground. Would highly recommend staying here! Also great spot if you have kids (although we don't have any)

This lodge is a surprise!
I did not expect to find such a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere, also known as Edoras. A really nice setup with outdoor (roofed for the rainy days) cooking and eating facilities, lovely camping spots (watch out for the cheeky holes in the grass) and the beautiful main lodge. It also has, regardless where you're sleeping, the best views of the stunning area!
WiFi runs over Sattelite which makes it quite expensive. But there's a bar where you can get everything you desire. The bathroom is just a little unclean (full bins).
Really friendly Lodge-Manager! Would definitely come again!
