Arrived about 6pm and snagged the last spot.
Right as we pulled up a local was handing out invitations to a community bike and craft day event the next day. We had originally planned to leave to Te Anau early but with such nice people we stayed and supported the local event. We bought venison salami from the new butcher, a few things from the thrift store, a few crafts from the train station, and meat pies and donuts. Bathrooms were clean. This town is such a special find. The minor downside was the shower at the local pool. For $10 for 2 people in Nov. the solar heating system wasn’t great so it was a quick cool shower with a tinge of warm water.

Great spot next to the lake.
We arrived about 10pm. The morning was calm before the afternoon storm arrived. Site was quiet and bathrooms were clean.

Ended up here because we didn’t want to get caught in a heavy storm in Haast.
A little pricey but not outrageous. There were about 6-8 vans. Quiet and decent bathrooms. The view over the valley was ok since it was raining.

We squeezed into the last spot at about 8pm.
Place was quiet except for some firefighters that responded to a call in the parking lot late at night. Bathrooms were in decent condition except they had a strong chemical odor. The colors of the sand, rocks, and sunrise are great

Ended up here since it was pretty cheap and close to town.
Not the best layout but probably an ideal spot in the heart of summer. Bathrooms were decent. We’ve been having better luck with nice bathrooms at the free locations than pay locations.

We showed up Halloween night.
There were a few guests dressed up. We skipped out on the activity. The drive to the parking lot felt like we were goin up a driveway to someone’s house. It’s a gravel parking lot, pretty level, had clean bathrooms, and fits about 12 campers. Quiet area except for a few drunks that wondered out and about at closing
Hi Indy,
Glad you found us, but apologies that you happened to stay that particular night. We like to do events for the locals occasionally. But usually it's quite peaceful. There are options to park below the restaurant on the grass and gravel areas if there is an event on. The parking is free, but there are other paid sites in Waitomo if we are not suitable.
Thank you for taking the time to review us.

We didn’t show up until 10-11pm.
The lot was jam packed. We squeezed in though. Bathrooms were a short walk away and clean.
