Easy to find, lots of fishermen and perminant campervans.
Close to Blenheim/Marlborough region. Can pick a spot at the river or under the trees. Lots of movement with fishermen and other campers. Quiet and free.b

Big park with all the amenities needed.
Drive through reception, heated pool, good WiFi. It is a busy park so the kitchens/bathrooms etc get busy at peaks times. Bathrooms were a bit cold, the one dump station was blocked which was inconvenient and a mess. Shops/mall within walking distance.

Small and well kept spot.
Kitchen is well stocked with crockery and cutlery. Bathrooms were clean and warm. Lovely gardens and very close to the beach. Hosts were helpful and friendly. Close to the boulders and penguins and to town.

Right next to the lake, which is beautiful and has loads of bird's.
A little bit of noise from the road, but very minor. Must be in self contained vehicle.

Fun place with a great location.
Quiet and close to the beach and some great trails and kiwi site. Simple kitchen with no real appliances just an area to clean up and prep food. Bathrooms were okay, pay for hot water. WiFi available too. Close to Franz Josef glacier 20-25min.

Good free spot up the road from the pancake rocks.
Quiet enough and large enough for a couple of campervans. Some good trails start from the parking area.

Another great top 10 site.
Great bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Close to Lake Matherson, town and the glacier access road. Can get busy, so the powered campervan sites can be noisy. Also air con/heating appliances in the nextdoor rooms could be heard.

One of the best top 10's we experienced in NZ.
Great facilities and amenities. Has everything you want and a hot tub (could be a bit warmer). Does get busy, so book. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they do great sales pitches for Queenstown activities ;) The park was busy yet quiet and they run free shuttles to town.

Drove in and drove out.
Looked dingy and messy. Cramped and not inviting.

Nice, clean and convenient.
Close to Nelson town. It's a smallish camp with good bathrooms and kitchen equipment.

Lovely little spot next to the Creek where you can feed eels and see fish and ducks.
Got a good kitchen set up and clean bathrooms. Paid for hot water in nice big showers. Lots of permanent campervans there so it has a lot of established 'perks'. Loads of washing line space, pool, trampoline and little shop.

First of the DOC camps when leaving from Milford.
Stunning views and loads of space next to the streams. Has drop toilets, kitchen/food area, water and fire pits. Some sand fly's. Right next to the Gunn Lake Walk. Beautiful place to enjoy the national park from.

Great place to stay for Milford/Glow worms etc.
Views of the lake are stunning. Clean and well set out facilities. Great showers and kitchen with TV. Close walk to town and the bird sanctuary.

Mixed-kind of camp site.
Loads of spots but some are far from kitchen and bathrooms and most are unpowered. There are old and new bathrooms, paid for hot showers. Old bathrooms are quite grim. Kitchen is quiet well stocked but a bit tired looking. Lake views are gorgeous and there is a track leader around the lake. Has an open fire area which is great for bbqing.

Such a kick-ass campsite.
Beautiful views and so close to the park. Beach walk is right in front of the camp grounds. They have a fully stocked kitchen as well as an outdoor kitchen which was great. Lots of bathrooms, hot water too. WiFi is for a limited time, which is fine cos you want to switch off! Friendly and nice staff, great vibe with fires and table tennis.
South Island ▷ Kaikoura Region ▷ Kaikoura ▷

Very nice spots close to the beach and convenient for Kaikoura.
kitchen and bathrooms were clean, though things feel spaced out and little lighting when walking around. Good recycling done here. Showers were annoying, with the radio permanently on, on and off button outside the shower doors and lights are automatic which means you may run out of water and then fumble in the dark to active the lights and start again. I feel I wasted more water by not being able to control the water on/off. Hosts are friendly but are just hosts and don't offer any services really and are not clued up about Kaikoura excursions.

Beautiful and quiet. Quite a few spots to chose from. Lovely for sunset and sunrise. Must be in a self contained vehicle.

Beautiful spot if you do the drive from Glenorchy to Queenstown/vice versa and want some great evening views.
Quiet a few little spots dotted around the site. Don't get stuck in the sand though.
