We stayed here in September, lovely quiet spot.
Keep going beyond the initial car park to reach the small lake area at the bottom of the track. Nice walks to explore the old gold mining area. The walk down by the lake is closed unfortunately.

Quiet spot with lots of space and good access.
There are drop toilets. View is probably very nice but hidden by thick cloud when we were there in September.

Nice spot tucked out of the way not a huge area for campers but smaller vehicles could tuck under the trees.
Gravel road to reach the site and quite a few sand flies even in September.

We were there in September.
Fantastic freedom camping site! Found a lovely spot among some trees with gorgeous lake and mountain views. We had a clear night with plenty of stars and moonlight and woke up to beautiful skies at sunrise.

We were here in September.
Great quiet spot by the lighthouse with lovely views across Akaroa Bay. 10 minute walk to breakfast/food places. Recommend a walk at Hinewai reserve a short(ish) drive away along some stunning roads
