This trip was a highlight of our visit to Akaroa.
The captain was knowledgeable and we enjoyed learning about the history of the area. Very good wine served and saw lots of dolphins and seals. It was more expensive than the milford sound cruise we did but still lovely.

We love visiting here, even in the winter.
It's better then because it's not so crowded. I don't know if you allowed but we sit and have a beer and watch people hopping over the really hot part lol. Be careful not to swim at this part of the beach. The currents are way dangerous and there are heaps of stingrays in the shallow water.

These are always lovely to visit, friendly staff gave us discounted towels after hearing we got stuck on the desert road in the snow.
Will definitely go back.

A pretty place to visit but far to expensive for a family of five to swim there.
$90 is way too much. Good coffee and excellent service in the cafe though.

This is a really great family walk - it's mostly flat with the first section through the bush and the second part across the rocks to the glacier.
We did it with teenagers and they all enjoyed it. Go early in the morning like we did before the tour groups come and watch the sun coming up.

The ford 6 berth drove very well.
It's comfortable for front seat passengers but not for backseat. The kitchen is good and we cooked a lot. No mechanical problems though the flush on the toilet seat wasnt working and broken appliance hastily fixed with tape. Has a heater placed high up which is no good for cold weather as it only heats the upper bed.
Not enough staff on and we did have quite a wait on arriving and returning the vehicle. Arrival receptionist was a bit brusque but the info video was helpful. Return lady was lovely and went out of her way to transfer us to our accom. A mixed bag but still a good experience.

This was the best place we stayed in the South Island.
Really!!! We loved it so much. Congratulations to DOC for running such a terrific outfit. Friendly, warm and cosy, and really well equipped. We cooked a proper dinner with utensils and plates supplied to use and a great area to eat our meal. Cosy lounge with games to borrow. Free taxi to the pub to watch the rugby and an awesome walk home under the stars. Very tame kea who visited INSIDE our campervan. LOVED IT AND WOULD GO BACK TOMORROW. Stay here it's great!!!

I can really recommend this trip.
Friendly staff and an informative commentary from people who really know the area. Were rapt to see lots of bottlenose dolphins, seals, and the rare Fiordland crested penguin. Just missed a whale that was there the day before. Middle of winter so it was cold, but the bonus is there are no sandflies and it is cheaper. Recommend a morning tour before the crowds arrive.

Pleasant to visit, but construction of new pools meant a lot of moving between pools in very cold weather.
Think management should have offered some sort of discounted price for having to put up with construction of new pools. Clean though, and friendly staff.

Great to visit from Auckland city as a reasonable drive.
Getting a bit expensive to take the family, I hope they keep the prices down. Movie broke down the night we were there unfortunately.

We've been here a few times and experienced different conditions from clear to cloudy water.
You won't see much if there is a big swell because the water gets very stirred up. Be prepared for a steep 5 min walk to the beach and snorkel at low tide.
