Absolutely great spot for freedom camping.
The designated area is also marked with signs describing were camping is allowed. The toilet is located in a building near the ocean, you have to go down some stairs near the intersection of Halse and Longfellow Road. Can definitely recommend this spot.

Best campground we stayed at during our New Zealand trip!
The current owners have just taken over the place and renovated it. All the facilities were perfectly clean, the kitchen was well equipped, and there was a lounge area which even had a TV. Both owners were very friendly and look well after the place. If your New Zealand trip takes you to Coromandel, I would definitely recommend to stay at this place!

Decent place to stay in Kaikoura.
Camped here for one night and can't complain about it. The location is very central, the main street with restaurants and the start of the Whale Watching tours are both just a short walk from here. The only downside of this location is that it is close to the street and also to train tracks, so it can get loud sometimes. The toilets and showers were in good condition and clean, hot water was available as well. Free WiFi was available and it was incredibly good/fast.

Very nice campground, even with ocean views depending on the space given to you.
The owner/staff member at reception was very friendly. Toilets and showers were clean, showers also had hot water. The place even sells some food, beverages, and things like toothbrush and -paste in the reception building/office. Even free WiFi is available for free , at least a certain amount of data per. The price for the campground is also quite reasonable considering the facilities, location, and the general prices around Abel Tasman National Park. Would definitely recommend this place.

Awesome location near Mount Sunday, also known as Edoras from the Lord of the Rings movies, owned by a nice guy.
However, this place is too expensive for what you get. Despite the rather high price for a campground, the Wifi has to be purchased extra, not even a small amount of data for free. Additionally, it does not really work/have good connection on the campground, although we put our tent directly next to the lodge. The showers and toilets were okay, not really dirty but also not really clean. Hot water was available though. Considering all facilities, you pay quite a high price for a location in an awesome landscape.

Very nice place to stay.
Friendly Staff, good and clean facilities, even a heater in the room. Wifi connection was bad in the rooms, but okay in common areas. We were offered free vegetables and fruits. However, it is a bit pricey. All in all a good stay.

Great Freedom Camping spot.
Very nice location directly by the beach and the ocean. Two drop toilets.
Even in autumn quite a number of people and vehicles present, so get here early especially in the main tourist season. Stunning view of the ocean and the small monkey island. It's a really great place to stay and camp with the sound of the ocean.
