We loved this spot and spent there 2 nights.
Plenty of space nearby the beautiful lake Polka. Easy access, but a few kms away from the main road and therefore very quiet. We had a daytrip to Mt Cook which is not to far away. There's no water there so you have to bring some or treat it. The landscape around is amazing. Stunning sunsets and sunrises.

A very good Campsite nearby the street.
We had no trouble with sandflies. Shelter is great for cooking. Toilets simple but for a free campsite everything you need.

We spent 2 nights there.
Good spot nearby the lake. Lots of space. It was very windy, so no sandflies. We used the cold outdoor shower
beside the toilets one sunny morning. Would definitely return.

Nice place nearby the coast.
You can have great walks at the beach. For non self-contained only a few campsites available and you stand very close together like on a car park. Toilets and sinks for washing the dishes are good. There are some tables where we cooked and had dinner.

Nice spot not far away from mirror lakes and fox glacier.
You sleep on a little parking space. We had rain for days and the gravel road was full of water. There's a nice little roof with tables for cooking. And water supply which may be treated. 2 toilets available. Walks on Gillespie's beach are just starting from that spot and the beach is only 2 minutes away.

Nice Spot directly at Lake Hawea.
There's a Hut where you can sit and cook. Water and sinks to do the dishes.
