I would have loved to give Affordable a 10.
Communication with Lynda was great and probably if you pick up at Christchurch everything will be perfect.
But the pick up station in Auckland (Otahuhu) is not managed by Affordable themselves and we were a bit unfortunate it seems. They didn't know anything about our arrangements with Lynda concerning duvets (we needed synthetic and no feathers for allergy reasons) and there was no GPS left in this office. So we had to start our trip against our planned direction to Auckland to a shopping area (not the most relaxing experience when it's your first time driving a bus and on the left side of the road) to buy a GPS which we got refunded. Later we found out that one of the two cookers wasn't working.
On the south island our beloved 1999-2003 campervan (bed in rear layout is fantastic!) caught a little cold when the temperature was under 10 degrees in the night. So we needed a little push in the mornings from fellow campers.
And in the end we found out that the guys in Otahuhu had given us the completely wrong paperwork with a wrong returning office address. So if I hadn't double checked with Lynda before drop off we would have turned up at a totally wrong company to return the van.
In Christchurch we got to get know Lynda in person and the drop off was a very good experience. She even gave us a lift to the accommodation we stayed at in Christchurch.
Despite all that happened we still think it is a good company. small and family based. Next time we'll book again with them and come to pick up the van in Christchurch. ;-)

My favorite campground of our 3 weeks trip with our campervan.
Stayed there for two nights. Marcus is super friendly and helpful. Love the bushwalk, the sounds of nature and all the creative and fun stuff around, like the swings in the wood or the random car or bus seats around with lovely views. A lot of details made with love, that makes such a nice atmosphere. The dry toilets work perfectly. Such a good idea!
Hello Melanie, Thanks so much for your great description of our campground and native habitat. We are always happy when guests enjoy their stay. Our place is not for everyone, but if you are interested in somewhere more than a place to park a van, and love nature, we would welcome your visit. We try and be as environmentally conscious as possible, with the dry toilets saving 1000s of litres of water a year as an example. Thanks again, Marcus
