The best word to describe this experience: surreal!
We pulled into to this campground based on decent reviews and I met with a very nice woman at the front desk (thus the “3”). As I wanted to get a little work done I asked about the Internet speed and she suggested we go “talk to Alex.” Terrible mistake. This wild looking disheveled man emerges from a cabin and the woman asks about the wifi speed. Alex responds by saying “fast enough, but you need to leave.” Shocked, I stated that I just wanted some idea. To which he responds “...you’ll never be happy, so just leave...” On the brink of speechless, I asked if he was serious and he he told me to go find some other park. Which I proceeded to do. Thankfully, Alex’s behavior was not indicative of other in the area we found a lovely couple running the Riverside Park just up the road. They couldn’t have been nicer and they had great WiFi to boot. Alex was either having a bad day or is certifiable. Beware.
Hi Don
Hope you gave the guys up the road a great review...because they deserve it. Great place.
As for what you just wrote here...try sticking to the truth next time and don't get personal.
Just because you were not happy with my answer (internet speed varies quite a bit here... speeds up to 15mb/s. So decent for us but apparently not good enough for you.) does not mean you have to start getting nasty and attack me personally in your review. I think this shows what kind of character you are - so no further comment on that. If internet is the most important thing for you - stay in a town where there is fibre available. We are a little holiday park in a beach reserve far from any city...
...and most of our guests come here to enjoy nature and to be right on the beach. It takes half an hour along the beach to walk to the Moeraki Boulders and 10 minutes drive to see the yellow-eyed penguins (free, donation appreciated). Great cafe, tavern, petrol station and supermarket 250m away. Full facilities.
