Park right next to a very busy road.
Owner IS grumpy so be prepared. Rates on rankers outdated. We prepared $58 for 4 people and an unpowered site. Otherwise facilities are ok but wouldn't stay here again. We stayed at way better parks throughout NZ.
Thank you for your comments can't remember being grumpy in the past 20 years but from time to time children riding the bikes on the entrance ramps require stern words for their own protection. as to the road well you chose to park on the extreme boundry next to the road your choice in some 5 acres of the park.
Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay but hope you had a wonderful holiday.
Grumpy.

We absolutely loved the Barn for its vibe, facilities, location, set up etc.
Maybe campervans could be a bit more spaced out bit this didn't bother us and it gets you talking to your neighbours, too. And it's not so big or at least doesn't feel like it, which was nice. Would defo recommend it and stay there again.

Great location as close to the walks and nice set up but facilities are not that great and too expensive for what you get.
There are much better DOC sites that are better value for money.

What a stunning camping spot and lovely grounds and very reasonably priced ($10 per person).
This was one of the best spots we stayed at. It's right next to the river and it's very spacious but with lots of privacy too as they have tall hedges everywhere. Hot showers, toilets and kitchen hut were all very clean and it good working order. Really good value for money.

The park is ok.
A little pricey for what you get but I guess that comes with the location. Facilities are clean but the campervan sites were a little too close to each other for our taste and could be better set up. It's close enough to Wellington and public transport. We had an issue with our camper van and the staff was very friendly and helpful, which was great. The light industrial area next door didn't bother us too much but there was some noise travelling over in tge early morning.

Awesome place to stay with heaps of campsites and lots to do in the area.
There are two flushing toilets and a couple of longdrops. No showers on site. But we were able to have a campfire with a permit. Very friendly campsite warden as well.

We went there because of the good reviews and I agree with the previous comments.
However, it was pretty busy when we were there and for the amount of people we found the facilities too small. Eg there is only one shower for females and males plus an extra one that both can use (and you have to pay for it). The kitchen / living area is also quite small eg only one sink and stove. So probably better to go there outside of the peak season.
