Great place on a small NZ farm!
Available are backpacker-bunk beds, stripped caravans with beds for 3/4 or tent/car sites. Fully equipped kitchen, hot shower and clean facilities, laundry available. You can buy fresh handpicked fruit&veggies from the garden, eggs and homemade bread for a good price.
Amazing view of the hills around with sheep and cows.
We loved it!!

We came late and it was PACKED!
First stop was the first one on the street on the right (packed and all partying at 9.30pm) we moved on to this one and it was also full. We found a spot, but get there early!
No cooking, dirty sink for dishes (water wasn’t working).
But: great location and free :-)

Simply great spot!
Right by the water, big grass area for tents and parking lots (watch out to only park where allowed, there is a sign by the bathroom, a ranger comes to check!), public toilets are clean, no showers. Some cars come early in the morning to get their fishing boats in the water.

Negative: dirty and stinky facilities, no shower, no light (even though you pay $15 pp).
Positive: 10 min drive from the airport, large grass area, farm animals nearby which you may encounter
I was in line for about 30 min to get the booking (there is a phone with wich you need to call the city council, they were very friendly but you need patience!)

Lovely lady with a cat at the check-in, great location at the lakefront just 10 min drive out of Rotorua center, $15 unpowered pp, hot showers, very clean, small kitchen.

Great location right next to Taupo and Huka Falls.
Many long drop toilets but no facilities.
Try to get a spot on the hill in the back! We had a good night -quiet and lots of space left (March).
It’s a good spot and it’s free, I think you shouldn’t judge a campground by the people who camp there!
