Brilliant campsite.
Great kitchen with cookware etc, very clean. Free hot showers. Great playground next door which is exceptionally well maintained. Whole campground surrounded by mature trees. We loved it - one of the best after a month on the road in North and South Island.

Great little free spot.
Can get slightly crowded. Easy 15 minute walk into town.

Not a brilliant campground and relatively basic facilities for what you pay for.
Brilliant bar next door - happy hour from 4:00.

Decent enough, but expensive for what it is and not so well maintained common facilities.

Cool place with much for kids - though no thought to health and safety in the playground - which I think is brilliant.
Toilets and facilities super clean. Great place.
Thank you for your review and we do think alot about Health and Safety in the playground! We have RAMS forms available which are given to schools that run programs here and are always looking for ways to keep any incidents to a minimum. However, if you are meaning rubber matting under the amusements, we prefer to use grass, just like in the good old days...

Good site and great for swimming.
Kitchen functional and clean - showers hot and powerful.

Good location near city and for catching the ferry - dump station a real plus for a free site.
However, must have been at least 40-50 campervans and RV the night we stayed. People parked so close we couldn’t open our doors fully. Partially due to ignorance and lack of awareness for others requirements and partially the place was so full.

Great spot, those farther south near permanent, rather than port-a-loos much better.
We had a sea lion on the beach in front of the van. Nice for rock pooling with the kids.

Brilliant campsite in the reserve, though very exposed and windy.
Loads of kite surfers. Very clean toilets - that even speak to you and play music when the door is locked. No showers. A playground about 1.2km walk down the road. If you love driftwood, this is the place for you.

Was a nice spot off of the beaten track.
Great trails starting from the campsite. Lot’s of space and very clean long drop toilets. No water.

Exceptionally busy and over crowded.
Lower lot closed to camping, upper lot has portable toilets.

Brilliant spot with an especially nice playground just behind it.
Only holds four vans and is quite tight. But great location.
