Not too far off the main road, a beautiful small free campsite at the start of the 4.1km Gunns Bush track.
We were the only overnighters. There a is no toilets or water but a lovely walk along side a beautiful creek to finish off a day of travel. If you stay make sure to leave it spotless, which just the way we found it.

We probably went a bit far around the lake as there was a beautiful spot not far off the highway.
But we were concerned about noise. We went on past the power station and found a spot close to road but a short walk to the lake but at about 9.30 pm guys stopped right next to our van and shot their rifle 3 times😖 Scared the heck out of me but my husband was calm

Great overnight camp, gets full pretty quickly.
One toilet but nice and clean. Great stretch of beach to walk on and if you’re keen you might see the penguins coming in at night. It was windy but we were cosy.

We stayed here on our way to Milford Sounds.
What a beautiful spot to stop, well off the road and a short walk to the river and you can have a fire:) we met some really lovely travellers and had a great night star gazing. We were self contained so didn’t need to use the drop toilets, but everyone who did came out alive.
