Close to harbour but most sites don't have such a good view as suggested.
Main positive is proximity to very good children's play park, Oamaru old town and the little blue penguins. Facilities clean but quite crowded. This was our first camper van site experience and was absolutely fine but had it been our last we might have been disappointed.
Sorry you felt let down. We do not advertise that every site gets a view, however we are right opposite the harbour which is just a few seconds walk across the road. We are so close to town playground and penguin colony.

Awesome location with incredible views from the lake beach up to Mount Cook on a clear day and beautiful sunset.
Lake swimming recommended albeit chilly! We didn't feel overcrowded.

V good value with spotless facilities and generous $2 showers, plenty of trees for shade and excellent children's play park. A short walk to hire bikes for Otago Rail Trail including trailers and tag-alongs, we headed towards Auripo including welcome delicious (NB cash or eftpos only) cafe stop at Lauder.

Very convenient stopping off site by SH1 with very clean new facilities, children's play park and duck lake nearby, excellent showers, overall very good value and friendly site manager.

Facilities clean and new including small but helpful children play facilities.
There's a free shuttle bus into Wanaka hourly each afternoon but no shuttle back. Sites close together but not too claustrophobic. Downside was cost: we found sites equally good sites for much less in other parts of S Island, market forces at play here.

Thanks for your comments about our pricing, you will find that in the Central Otago & Southern Lakes region it is more expensive however we aim to make our rates competetive to others.
