Open grass area with paved area that has counter space and kitchen sink.
The water isn’t treated so you need to boil before consuming. There is only one drop toilet but it’s clean with extra toilet paper and hand sanitizer. The drive to the campgrounds is on narrow gravel roads that might be hard if it’s rainy. You’ll need to book ahead to get the gate code for lock. No shower or WiFi. It’s basic but in good condition. It’s only $8pp so a great price if you’re in the area.

Beautiful views, clean bathrooms (hand sanitizers only), drinking fountain and lots of walking trails.
It’s a uphill incline on the way back so be prepared. There are a couple benches so people can take breaks.

If you want more of a remote location and beautiful beach, this place is perfect!
The facility is clean, outdoor beach showers (cold water), and lots of space. It’s right next to Cape Reinga. The mosquitos are HORRIBLE so be prepared. No cell service or hot water.

Great location!
The newer toilets were nice and there was lots of extra port-a-potties closet to the campgrounds. They have a sink for washing dishes. There was plenty of room but very busy at this free spot.

Not as large as Hot Water Beach but a fun experience if in the area.
They have toilets, drinking water station and changing area next to the parking lot. The water was hot and the lake was cold! You are only sitting in a couple of inches of hot water.

Best location and excellent facilities!
The campground is a hot spot for families so lots of kids and parties. The spots on the beach were excellent. All signs have different times to walk to Cathedral Cove from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. It took about and hour from the campgrounds. It had a couple steep inclines. The water taxi was right on the beach of campgrounds for $15pp one way. We took the taxi back instead of walking both ways. Hot Water Beach was only a couple minutes drive. You could rent shovel from campground for $5 or buy one in store for $15. The town had some great restaurants. Lower rating because of the crowds - tent to tent packed!

Great view of farmland and ocean!
The facilities were in poor condition but it was right next to the Goat Island Beach. They were expensive for the amenities ($25pp). They advertised a fire but didn’t have one. They did rent snorkel gear for $20 which was cheaper than the place in town. No WiFi and their credit card machine was broken so cash only in January.

Excellent location on the river!
We had a bonfire at night and enjoyed swimming in the river during the day. Clean toilets, kitchen, BBQ grills and drinking water station. No showers.

It was near the river but the toilet was horrible!
It smelled, didn’t have toilet paper, lots of spiders and only one onsite. The trash was overflowing and the campgrounds smelled. It was worth the price...free!

Beautiful arctic blue water!
The hike was less than the 15 minute sign but it is at an incline the way back to parking lot.

Beautiful grounds and great thermal pools onsite!
The facilities were in poor condition. The shower was hot but old and holds water at your feet.

Excellent view and my favourite campgrounds for the price ($20pp).
The bathrooms were clean with hot showers. Just a couple minutes drive from downtown. Totally worth the stay!

The water was beautiful but didn’t meet my expectations.
It’s not really rushing out but more filled up a large area quickly. The Huka Falls was better but worth the trip if in the area during the times.

Great location for the glowworms!
It was a beautiful spot on the river with a couple walking trails. We swam in the river. No showers but they have a sink for washing dishes and toilets.
