Absolutely amazing campground.
This is the last campground before Milford and it’s definitely worth it. The views are stunning, there is a short walk nearby which is really great! The toilets were clean and there was an access to water.

Great campground.
Toilets were brand new and clean, with a sink and access to water. There are great views on the lake and also a little hidden river. Of course there are sandflies but to be honest in this area it’s hard not to have them.

Great little spot near Abel Tasman, its really handy location if you have activities planned in Abel!
It’s really really tiny so if you want to have a space make sure to come early by 6pm it was already pretty much full. Clean toilets and cold shower (one, outside). Please make sure to add your night fee/donation and support the community to keep this spot as nice as it is!

Great facilities super clean!
The camp host was really friendly, if you don’t have the right change just go to see him and he will help you out! We sought the side on the left when you come off the road (I think it was Otto) was better than the other one.

This campground was just fabulous on every aspects.
The camp hosts were super friendly and welcoming. We had unlimited WiFi. We had hot showers ($2 -4min that’s plenty of time). The beach was right behind us and gorgeous. There is an amazing walk to do just 5min from the campground. Highly recommend to go there, Okarito is a cute little place to see on your trip! The camp is quite popular so make sure you don’t arrive too late and have a spot!

This is a “no other choice stop” I reckon.
The bathroom were the worst we had throughout the trip, so smelly we felt sick and with the road next to it it’s not the best spot to sleep. If you can, avoid this campground we had free camps that were cleaner and nicer than this one.

It’s a good spot for one night with the river just behind.
Toilets were not the best ones but for a free camp it was alright. Lots of space and little corner to have some privacy if you wanted.

Great campsite, very clean with heated bathrooms :O.
You don’t enjoy the view everywhere but there are tables to eat with the view so it works too. Camp hosts are not overwhelmingly welcoming but it wasn’t the end of the world.

One of our fav’ spot during our road trip!
Amazing views on the ocean, be prepared to queue a little for the bathroom but you enjoy the view so much that you don’t mind waiting! Please respect all this free camp rules, there aren’t many to follow it would be a shame to lose this amazing spot.

Awesome campground with great view on the lake and some pretty walks as well!
The toilets were really clean, and the campground is a big field so lots of space! Watch the ducks who do not fear campers and don’t move when you’re coming with your car towards them to park.

Cute little spot to spend the night, the bathroom were a little smelly.
Be aware to come early as this campground is really tiny and fills up super quickly! The campground was really packed when we were there, we had barely enough space to get out of our car but for one night it was alright!
