Fabulous way to see the Sound.
Well organised with thermals and waterproofs to wear. Exciting trip, as unusually quite windy and choppy but even the novices loved it. Kayaking under the waterfalls was the highlight but remember, protection from sandflies is an essential. I was scratching for days! Lowlight- I lost my glasses to the fishes!

Great boat ride into Lord of the R scenery!
Amazing caves with beautiful rock formations and crystal clear water. The walkways are safe and make the 300 mtr walk underground relatively accessible. Low rock on entry makes you bend a bit! When deep inside mountain, a boat glides you silently under the hanging glowworms! Beautiful! they look likes tiny stars in the galaxy. Well worth the money.

I'm a more mature traveller, single and female and was on a kayaking trip to Milford Sound.
My room at the Lodge was comfortable but rather noisy - they cater for mostly young backpackers or did when I was there, so not many people of my age. The bathroom was clean, but the highlight was the cafe. I ordered scrambled eggs on bagel and Earl Grey tea - delicious! The portion was enormous, there must have been 3 or 4 eggs, and they were served on a large bagel accompanied with a small dish of real tomato sauce not ketchup! Good value $8 and I saved half to eat for lunch, it was so big!

Conservation of penguins habitat a priority, so the walkways are embedded into the ground and camoflaged.
Walking is easy and photos can be taken up close without disturbing the birds. We had good views of them in their shelters and the guide was v knowledgable and answered all our questions.
Well worth the money to know these endangered penguins are being cared for.
