It's an adventure to get to this campsite!
It's a long (but nice) gravel road that can be pretty narrow at some points (big campervans, watch out). Just keep going until the road stops and you'll find it! It was quite busy over the weekend: some walking and mountainbike tracks start from the campsite. The walk to the hole and viewpoint is really good and gives an amazing view over the valley (but the climbing may be dangerous if you have kids).
At $6 per person it's very cheap, but drop loos are quite smelly and the many sheep and lambs might keep you awake during the night when you're there in spring like us. Still, fine campsite and happy we did the walk!

We really liked this campsite!
Very friendly owners, nice atmosphere and facilities and next to the beach. We were there just before Christmas and we paid $34 for 2 persons and a tent. Hot showers were included :)

This cave is absolutely stunning!
We never expected it to be this big and overwhelming. The walk is pretty short but might be harder during wet days. We did it during a draught so it was very doable, it took us around 30 min to get there. Some parts were a little steep but definitely not too hard if you're moderately fit. Probably one of the best (free) caves we've seen in our life, don't miss this!

Do stop here!
We stayed here one night mid-December and so happy we did. It's really good value for money (just 10 dollars per person for tent/campervan, 20 dollars for a bunk bed and 45 dollars for a double room!) You get a fully equipped kitchen (with gas stove), hot shower and toilet. The place looks super cute and welcoming: you can sit down in the kitchen or veranda to relax or eat. Owners are really friendly too :) Don't miss this one!

Great spot, the gravel road is in very good shape (watch out for the 1000 bunnies ;)).
There is no sign but if you're coming from Wanaka it is a gravel road on the right at the end of the lake. Clean toilet, great views and taps (no drink water). Bring spray for the sand flies!

It is possible to camp here with a tent!
We found a beautiful place between the trees with a view on the lake. Sunsets are Amazing! There is no toilet (nearest one is visitor centre other side of the lake) or taps, but the lake is perfect for a dip! At night the stars are beautiful. One of our favourite free campsites we've been on!
