The Black Labyrinth tour was just challenging enough to enjoy and still feel like an adventure.
Terrific guides. One-of-a-kind experience.

Good facilities, but the draw is unobstructed view of the ocean from the sites on the bluff.
And it's right on a kilometers-long path that skirts the ocean.
We have Great facilities with Heated swimming pool, Spa & Sauna, Children's Playground, Giant Chess. Our Sites are sheltered & private, We are a short walk to the Surf beach & coastal walkway, Lake, New wave Bridge & shopping. Mountain views but not ocean view. Thankyou

Great location, if limited facilities, friendly staff.
Perfect for forays into Auckland or just hanging at the beach. Excellent for a last few days before returning vehicle to airport rental before flight. They let us pay for a half day so that we could stay until the afternoon.

Abel Tasman may be a bit easier to walk, but QC is spectacular.
We did the first 3 days, and even the last, 16-mile day was quite doable (we're in our 60's). Varied segment lengths, wonderful lodges with excellent food and baggage transfer make this track available to various fitness levels. Heck, some can walk while the others take the water taxi and lounge! Let the "I" in Picton make the arrangements; they're terrific.

Beautifully maintained track with good access by sea shuttles.
Good balance of bush and beach. A few more outhouses wouldn't hurt!

Good staff, great location bus access for the city, ferry, but facilities (especially bathrooms) not up to the number of campervans.
At least they warn you over the phone that is an "urban" campground.

A bit disorganized at Auckland airport base, but quick to deal with problems on the road (unfortunately, there have been some).
Should have warned us about the ferry costs and suggested alternatives for rental.
Hi Susan & Richard,
Thank you so much for your 7/10 review. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some concerns on the road, but are pleased that our team was able to address these quickly.
We do try to advise clients who are traveling from North - South Island of ferry charges, and we apologise if this did not occur. Next time, keep in mind that we are also able to book the ferry for you.
We hope you had a fantastic trip around New Zealand!

Suggestion: There is a holiday park (cannot remember the name) very near the trail head, where you can be picked up at a much later hour than the 6 am Taupo pick-up.
And don't bother to try to finish the tack too early because none of the buses leave until about 3:00 pm.
The name of holiday park is "Whakapapa Holiday Park", Located in Whakapapa Village, Mt Ruapehu.
