The facilities have been rebuilt and look really nice!
The kitchen area is spacious and there’s plenty of room to sit, both indoors and outdoors. The showers have unlimited hot water and are nice and clean. You also get 1GB of free WiFi to use everywhere on the camp site. We loved to jump on the trampoline and best of all, the beach is just down the road!

Although this is a beautiful spot with a great view on the lake, we thought it’s way overpriced as we paid $10 per person (end of November).
There are only very smelly long drop toilets without toilet paper and there’s no drinking water.

We loved this unique spot!
You’re right at the edge of the cliffs and we had a great ocean view. The camp site used to be a military base in WWII and you can still see those buildings. The DOC ranger is really kind and mows the grass. However, the toilets were a bit smelly and could use some regular cleaning. There are two drinking water spots and plenty of picnic tables!

From the camp site you have a nice view on the bay.
Lots of permanent campers here. The facilities are a bit outdated but clean. You’ve 6 minutes to shower. Tip: do your laundry here, as the washing machines and dryers are only $2 each.

This is one of the most beautiful free camp sites we’ve stayed!
Great spot at the lake and surrounded by mountains. Be sure to arrive early as it fills up pretty quickly. The camp site’s description says that there should be a water point but we couldn’t find it?!

We loved this happy hippie camp site!
The staff is really nice and welcoming. The van park is a field with nice views on the bay and a cosy communal area. Be sure to arrive early because the field fills up quickly. The showers are really nice, especially for tall Dutchies like us! And the funniest thing was when we woke up we saw sheep everywhere!
