The Jucy cruise gets 10 points!
We took the earliest cruise and if you drive a Jucy vehicle driver gets half price off. Boat was not crowded at all (maybe because it was the early cruise). Staff was friendly and the captain's commentary as much entertaining as it as informative. We made several stops not only to view the panorama but also we got to see seals and penguins very close up! Before we returned to the harbour we took a shower in the greatest waterfall there which was very cold but worth it. As a special offer we got a breakfast cake and orange juice free, complimentary tea is always included. Can only recommend this cruise!

Would stay here again!
Even in November it gets crowded in the evening so book ahead in high season. Enough facilities and very clean. Bit pricey due to location in Queenstown but you have everything in walking distance.

Perfect freedom camping spot!
We spent the afternoon catching our own salmon and visiting the other animals around. (There is a friendly deer opposite the farm, too) The salmon was the best we ever are! We were the only ones staying there that night and no single car passed the street next to the grassy area at night. You could only hear the birds singing. Bring repellent for the sandflies, no toilet accessible at night.

Reasonably priced, $34 for two adults plus 2 for us both for the showers.
Facilities are old but clean (one review said they had new facilities, maybe they were on a different spot on the campground. Campground is very large! Site is big enough, it was very quiet at night. Only 250mb of data is included like mostly anywhere else.

Honestly don't know why people complain about!
Yes, it is near the highway, yes, it is "just" a car park, but it is FREE! So of course you don't have as much privacy as in some pay campgrounds. We stayed in DOC campgrounds with less space.
Toilets are clean and road noise isn't too bad, if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Nice grassy area with picnic tables and view of farmland with animals. Be early as sites fill up quickly in the evening.
