Awesome place for stay overnight.
Clean facilities, shelters, drinking water, nice hikes around and very friendly and helpful ranger. Recycle bins on site.

Very nice campground close to Wellington (about 30min drive without traffic but it could be much more during morning and afternoon peaks).
You can stay on carpark before the gate but it is better to continue about 300m and there is another nice and maybe more quiet grass camping area. Everything very clean. Train station from/to Wellington. $8 one way pp.

Great campsite for only $6 per person, per night.
Place for hundreds or maybe thousand campers..so huge and super well maintained. Windy as everywhere. You will find here everything you need.
