The rating is for the three hour bird trip in the eight wheeler.
Paddy has a great future in bird tours on the spit if our trip was any indication - having the birds in breeding plumage helped. We did the longer trip, which was pleasant with excellent commentary, but not in the same league as the previous afternoon.

I am involved in pelagic bird trips outside of NZ so these expeditions can be a bit of 'buspersons holiday'.
Gary Melville's knowledge and unobtrusive style ensures its not - enjoyed both trips.

Probably one of the best New Zealand experiences I have had in 30 years.
The highlight, aside from the birds, was the interaction with both staff and operators of the resort. There attitude and knowledge of birds and culture were worth the trip alone!.
